Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Dead Pedal, No Power

Truck ran fine on the way to work today, but on the way back from the bank it has a dead pedal when you push more than 1/4 of the way down. Truck is a real pig now. FMS wont add any fuel either... Map Sensor? TPS? Truck has CEL on and the only code is the 1693... I'm stumped...

Sounds like either the TPS or VP44... .

I unplugged the MAP sensor from the FMS and things seem normal..... CEL is still on. . I think it is the Map sensor. It has been shwing 6lbs of boost at Ide for a few days.

Well I should have read things better, Looks like the MAP could be the problem. Let us know what turns up.

Ugh, $75 for a New MAP sensor at Cummins and I have to wait a day. Good news is, I unplugged the FMS from the MAP Sensor and all seems okay. . CEL is even off now. Go figure :-laf

after a "few" starts if the syptom doesn't persist the CEL will extinguish, code will still be there though. Sure sounds like the MAP, good luck. My VP44 just died and kind of acted like that, i got the dreadful P0216 though.

The Cummins shop wants $75. 00 for the part... is that high? I have always heard $40-$50... .
