On my way home from the Sierras towing my Jeep I experienced the dead pedal problem. It happened twice while pulling a hill right after refueling. I downshifted to 5th and it corrected itself each time. Drove the next 200 miles with no problems. The truck is an 02 HO with 50k on the clock. The only engine mod is an Edge EZ on #1 setting. The fuel pressure at the VP inlet is 15 idle, 11 cruising and 6 wot with a load. Codes P1693 & P0216 are now present.

I know this probably indicates a VP44 going bad but I was wondering if it could be caused by the fuel or Edge? I've got 6 months left on the warranty so I would like it fixed ASAP.

Another question for those on the Calif central coast does anyone have any experience with Dodge dealers in the area. I'm in Santa Barbara and the closest dealers are in Ventura or Santa Maria. Never delt with them so I would appreciate any advice.

A search will turn up a lot of stuff, but I had the same problem a while back but it went away when my Edge Comp was completely unplugged (MAP and Diag connectors). I went ahead and packed all the Edge connectors with Dielectric grease and plugged back upand have not had the problem since. Difinatley worth a try.

I still feel that my vp is getting weak since my fuel milage has dropped a mile or two, but I'll wait untill it quits before I do anything.

I also went ahead an installed a FASS (pump only). I don't think I could've taken another failed LP. :(

Just replaced my vp saturday, had the same problem. was able to get the pedal back each time by letting completly off and it was driving back to normal till it acting up again. those two codes mean vp44 on its way out. go to the dealer. tell them those two codes are there, dead pedal, and that you have changed the filters regularly. and of course remove all power adders.
