Andy,

I was on the accelerator passing someone, at the same time I was turning up the ProComp. The engine bucked once, then the "Check Engine" light came on and it shut down. I could not get it to re-start. I have fuel pressure (lift pump), but it simple won't fire up. The Comp box still "appears" to be OK, I can turn it on and off and change levels. I don't know if I tripped an over fuel code or what, but now it acts like the ECM is not telling the pump to inject. This is with box on or off. Any ideas? 99 Dodge 24V, Edge ProComp, stock injectors, K&N FIPK Gen II, Autometer Boost, EGT, Fuel Pressure Guages.

Mike

This is a buddy of mine and the truck is at the dealer now. I think they can be trusted to check it out. We would very much like any thoughts on this or similar sounding problems.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Hate to say this, but I think you vp-44 is toast.

Somewhat common on the earlier trucks 98. 5-99.

From what I have read on this site you should not turn the box up or down while on the accelerator.

If the dealer finds signs of tampering, ie pump wire tapped, it won't be covered under warranty, and they will charge you.

Your Not Alone

I toasted my VP44 Today too. Just installed my edge comp with the wire. Had the box on 5x5 for about an 1/8 mile. I left some NICE :p black marks for about 100 feet though. Talk about a pit in the stomache HuH? Time to call Piers I guess.

ok boys before you call it quits-loosen #3 & #4 and even #5 injector line nuts at the head and bleed the lines--crank over engine until you get fuel coming out--as soon as one emits fuel tighten it up and then do the same as the others--then crank it over some more after everything is tight and hopefully the truck will start--it's possible you guys airlocked the fuel system and this will blled the air out and the truck should start shortly thereafter--you should hear a difference in cranking when the lines are cracked vs closed--you don't need to crank much for bleeding and I suggest you do like 5 seconds and turn it off and wait maybe 15 secs and crank it over again--keep this pattern up until you get fuel out of the nuts--if after about 2 minutes if you don't have any fuel --then it's possible you fried the VP44--but I'd still try it longer if it was me--good luck---chris

No! I just got excited and had to add it to my signature. Mike @ PDR said it would be two to three weeks before i got mine. I'm very excited Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. He said i should gain 30-40 HP with the new pump.
