P0500 No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal

Do you have gauges? Where are you located? What does it do when you turn it over, cough, sputter, crank, etc... ? Stock or modified?

yes i do have all gauges and a blue chip fms box... . im in nw arkansas and it does nothing but turn over, no sputter nothing thanks for any help ED

What was the last thing that happened before it died? Driving, cruise/got into/out of the fuel pedal? Would not start out of the blue? etc...

CPS dead without a code???

Fuel going to the VP, but not out of the VP to the injectors?

The only reason I could guess it would not start would have to be a dead VP.

1693 code is the one I got when my VP was dieing, but its a companion code, so it can really be anything.

If the engine turns over when you turn the key, the only problem left can be fuel. Either injectors (almost all would have to be bad) or the VP, the latter is the likely culpret.

still dead

was just driving at 45mph and it just quit,,,is there any way i can check the vp... . if i had to take to dodge it would have to be towed over 60 miles just to tell me it was the pump thanks ED

You could open an injector line a crack to see if fuel is pumping out of the VP. But your symptoms sure seem like a Cam Position Sensor... . I don't know off hand of a way to test this sensor, the dealer might be able to plug into your truck and get a code that does not appear on the OD. I think the CPS is located behind the VP, I seem to recall reading the the CPS should be changed during a VP replacement because it is so easy to get at while the VP is off. I do not know off hand if the CPS can be swapped out with the VP in place. The VP will more often than not display symptoms before it fails completely. This is not always the case but it is common. The CPS will sometimes display symptoms or codes before it fails completely, but more typical is exactly what you are describing.

When I had my '96 Powerstroke, the cam sensor failed. I was driving at about 40 mph and the truck just shut off. I pulled her over and all she did was crank over. I had to get it towed home. I'm no expert but it sounds the same to me.
