2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 98.5 2500 no 12v power

Howdy Folks ! I used to be on this forum 12plus yrs ago and it was a wealth of info. My 1998.5 Auto 2500 4wd truck died 12yrs ago and i put her up in storage. Last year I pulled her out and repaired the transmission and the flex plate that destroyed her. Since all the that the VP44 went out. So im trying to bring her back to life. Recently, I put on a FASS Lift pump and RV275 Injectors. Then the VP44 poo pooed out on me after my daughter wrecked it pulling a load of chicken **** to a field we farm. So im willing to put a HOT ROD VP44 on her. Currently she has a 15yr old Industrial Injection stock pump with stacked VanAken box and a Super Chips programmer installed. When she was running, it was OK not Hot at all but alot better than stock.
Now since the VP44 is dead, suggestions on replacement and boxes/programmers. Thx in advance peeps !! cya emmett bozard

Cracked the lines, turn engine over but no skeet skeet. Shoot the intake with starting fluid cranks but no run. The lift pump went out and i had to replace it and chose to upgrade with a FASS. I know this is what killed the VP44. Thx for the question tho.

And you have "cracked" the fuel line at the VP44 and bumped the starter and have fuel there?

If you open the water drain on the fuel filter and route a hose to a container, how much fuel do you get when you bump the starter. Pump should run around 28 +/- seconds. Key on it runs only 3 seconds. You are using the bump the starter to prime the system?

I hand prime the fuel filter, then it only takes a few bumps to see pressure at the injection pump. there is ecm update that drop the fuel pressure to zero too.

thx for the reply. I really havent done anything with the truck, jst been sitting there. My son did get it running again. Not sure how, but its running.
I do believe i still have a VP44 issue and im going to go ahead and replace it. Now comes the question, which VP44 do i replace it with ? i am looking for more POWER !!!! thx

Just a caution. I see you indicated "auto" in your initial post and noticing you want more power, might want to consider the auto trans is the weak link and depending on how much power you add it might not last long and then end up sitting for more years. I had my trans "DTT'ed" (long ago before they closed due to deaths in family) when the truck was at 128k or so as it was slipping "then" I started adding power mods (see signature). I haven't added any more power since and presently at like 265k it still runs strong.

EDIT: Meant to mention I've had 2 VPs over the years and went with the stock "SO" pumps from Thoroughbred Diesel. I've read that the "Hot Rod" pumps can cause idle issues and don't add much power. Don't know for sure, just read some folks have had issues.

Thx for the caution ! Ive rebiult the transmission twice. Had it Beefed up both times. I ust to pull a D5 Cat Dozier and 416c backhoe with it on a daily basis. Running 2 transmission oil coolers. transmission aint my problem. But good info on the Hot Rod thx. I believe im gonna jst put a stock pump from Industrial Desiel again. Its lasted for yearssss. thx cya

Emmett, have you change out your VP44 I.P. ? I got a re-manufactured one from Blue Chip Diesel Performance, East Derry , NH 888-472-7373.

Had to do mine @ 65,000 miles because I was using 50% diesel, 50% homemade bio-diesel.
Upgraded to the FASS lift pump, and have had no issues with it since install.
The one I purchased was the Special X, or "SX" .
Forget the fellows name, but he is really knowledgeable with these I.P.'s.

No i never did resolve my issue or purchase/replace my VP44. We farm and just simply got busy working on other many many issues and dropped this one. Hmmm i might pick it back up now, thx !!!
