I'm soon going to be getting a truck, what are the advantages and disadvantages of the 12v and 24v engines, need to know more. would like to get a relatively new truck, but i like the 12v, but also like the electronics of the 24v, (hook up computer check codes easier). tia

12V :-{} 24V

I have one of each, each better and worse in some ways. You wont go wrong with either. 24V, get a fuel pressure gauge amd carry a spare lift pump. 12V cut a hole in the floor for your Fred Flintstone brakes  .

Just avoid the #53 blocks, I've read that the failure rate is 7% (admitted by Cummins, I'm sure it is much higher because not every cracked block gets back to Cummins)

You like to look up computer codes? Why? With a 12V you wont have any computers to set codes (injection). 12V's gernerally get better MPG.

You will be happy with either :D

!Gulp! Quick run! oh no here they come aaaahhhhhhh.

Just kidding. I am sure that you will get a ton of responses.

12V to me anyways = quieter , less expensive in SOME respects to get power out of , Many things mechanical = easier and less replacements , Sound , and hey it's a cummins.

24V to me anyways = louder , can be more expensive to get power out of because they respond well to electronic enhancements which in turn turns attention twards drivetrain sooner , many things electronic which in turns makes for easier shade tree diagnostics , however sometimes more expensive repairs , better "Economy" , power is switch on / offable.
