Am i whinning too much or should i have expected a rental for warranty work that stretch out to 7+ work days? Any suggestions on resonable reimbursment I should ask for? Here's the rest of the story...

My fuel pressure regulator want out at 29,000 miles. 27k psi at the rail, tech says it should have been 6-7,000 psi at that point. Part was ordered and shipped on the 3 day after i dropped it off for diagnosis. It took them 2 days to diagnose, one to get the order off, and 5 days for delivery from detroit? (I think he said Detroit).

I requested the High Idle TSB, and window felt TSB on the 3rd day. not only did these TSB's not get done by day 7 but the parts still were not ordered for the TSB's come day 8 when i came back on satuday to have it completed. After the fuel pressure regulator on day 7 was installed, I took my truck and made an appointment for saturday for the TSB's.

Come saturday (Day 8) and 3. 5 Hrs after i drop it off i see there isn't a mechanic on it (I was told it would take 3 hrs). After asking whats going on the service manager checks on it, and the window felt was never ordered and the High Idle can't be done today because it needs a reflash and thier unit (DBR or DRB) doesn't have the current software.

They call me mid Saturday to tell me are very sorry about the whole situation and they lost my key. Yep, lost my key. I give them credit for allowing me to grab it on sunday after i grabed my spair key from my wife.

What is a resonable reinbursment, or should i even expect one? a couple oil changes, a transmission service, or should i just be happy when the original TSB's are taken care of? Adding up 7 days of car rental and 7. 4 days of payments comes to $389. This isn't including my time or insurance payments.

If your dealer wants your business ever again they should help out with a 'free' rental while it's in for warranty work; especially when it's more thena day of downtime. But I don't think they have a legal obligation to do so.

Good luck! Been there.

All dealerships are not the same IMO.

When the trans went out on my 95 Chevy 4x4 truck with only 27K miles I got a loaner for two weeks while my truck was being repaired. This was a dealership close to where I had a deer lease at the time. Full tank of gas when I left the dealer an I returned it the same (full). I guess it depends on each individual dealership on there customer relations policy. If it was me, knowing myself, LOL I would probaly gig them some about the time period of completion. Maybe you will get some action maybe not. Word of mouth is one of the the best advertisments IMO.
