Dealer hurt my baby

It all started off as a good day, I was scheduled to get some warrenty work,and some TSB's anyways, when I got there, I gave the keys to the service manager, and he tossed the to the lil 20 some year old hot shot. I thought if my 17 year old son can drive it with a 27' enclosed car trailer in rush hour trafic, maybe he could do just fine so I went to get a pop, well turns out, coming back I see the service rep wipping like the dickens on my dually fendre with rubbin compound. I'm like what the F***? :O I walk over, and I see he cut the corner way short and rubbed the WHOLE passesger side fender across the bay door opening. He hit it hard enough to leave a nice fat and wide white mark, collapse the fender, pull it away from the body, and scuff the tire. #ad
Now I'm furious, the reps apologizing over an over, and that kid has enough guts to come up to me and say "u can hit me if you want. " I just wanted to explode but I restrained myself. Oh well, nothing $1500 won't fix Sorry for being so long, but I just had to vent alittle, and my wife doesn't understand why I get all worked up, but I know you guys will understand #ad

Sounds like you controlled yourself admirably! Don't know how I would have reacted. They at least owe you a full fender replacement and a loaner while they fix it.

Relax - give the dealership to make it right.
It could have been worse. The truck could have been sideswiped in a parking lot and you'd be footing the bill, you could have been in a hit and run and your 17 year old son could have been hurt, etc.

It's an inanimate object and it can be fixed. I know, I was hit by a drunk in a hit and run whihc did 8K+ to the truck and it did not touch the frame. Bumper, tailgate, right fender & taillight, right inner metal fender, outer dually wheel, etc.

Your truck will survive just as mine has now 3 years later.
Keep calm and let the dealership fix their mistake. And it sounds like 20 year olds are still cocky 20 year olds.

Hope the dealership treats you right.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Sounds like the kid had the balls to fess up to it thoough. Could have been worse. I saw a Dodge up on a hoist when it fell off sideways. Luckily no one was underneath. They ended up totaling the truck.

The control you exhibited was nice but not called for. You should have pistol whipped the punk then hung him by his driving hand. I had my truck in for a transmission friday and the mech. said I has the cleanest 96 he had seen. Nobody drives mine but me. I drive it into the service bay. I read your post and my face got hot. I can just see it happening.

"Red Rattler" is an appropriate handle recently - huh?! Sorry to hear about your truck. I know that's how my baby is goin' out (a wreck. )

Things always seem worse going thru them. I had 2 small dents in my 9 day old baby and thought life was over - just fit to be tied! Well, after a few days of cooling off and getting estimates for the repair, I fell much better and realize things aren't that bad - my baby will be like new soon.

Altho, this brings up another good point about doing your own work if posssible!

I feel your pain. I took my 2000 dually in for a service to THE 5 SCREW dealer in Bellevue, WA. When I got it back home I noticed the heated seats didn't work. I took it back to the dealer and they said I would need to make an appointment for electrical troubleshooting. I was chapped. I managed to get the ear of a lot boy who had a lot more customer service skills than the Service Man. He got a manual and found that the relay was missing in the fuse box. He went to get me a new one from parts. Here's where it gets funny, They didn't have any, but when the mechanic came over to see what was going on HE sent the Lot Boy to his tool box to get one. I always wondered where THAT one came from! *** 2nd Time In: Sent the truck in for a service. Came to pick up my truck and the service man said they had a mishap. Some NIMROD drove my truck into the lift distroying the rear fender. They did not offer a rental, so I asked they said no. So I demanded one and they said they would only pay for $30. I asked for the owner and they said that their wasn't one! 5 days after getting my truck repaired a lady called the house to ask about the quality of service. I gave her both barrels and told her that the service was not only poor but your people are very rude as well. I told her the story and said I would never go back. The dealership never called to try to make things right. These people have no scruples - Stay away from "Dodge(Scum)of Bellevue.....
