It took my dealer 6 hours to install my Jake Brake yesterday. He added lots of wiring and vacuum pump and new big belt. The control to turn on/off is on the gear shift. This thing works slick. It works all the way down to 750-800 rpms and the 48re downshifts as the truck slows. Will use it this weekend up on the BlueRidge. It cost me $1325. 00 plus cost of installation. I'll get photos later today. :-laf

Dealer installed Jake on mine when I picked it up 2 weeks ago. Same deal, pump, solenoid, and wiring, only mine is on a 6 speed manual. Took them 7 hours, total cost for the brake and installation was $1700. Switch is on the side of the shifter, looks like a split gear shift. Works great and you can done shift with it on. Tow a 14,500 fiver in the hills, so will be working it hard.

I bought mine from a dealer and I had an independent shop install it about 8 months ago. Total cost around $1350. 00. I pull lumber loads and it's great. I find I use it a lot even without the trailer. I just returned from a trip into British Columbia. It really cuts down the need to use the truck's brakes, especially on the long grades.

Sounds like I got a deal. When I picked up my new truck from the dealers I had them install the Jake. Cost me $1300 installed. :D

I wish I could have one on my auto. They are making a killing on these brakes though. We just installed one on my friends truck and he picked it up at a cummins distributor for 671. 00.

Sounds like a pre-03 install. Price times two for '03 and up. You're buying the air compressor + jake brake. Before '03 you were buying just the brake.

I love mine too! With the 6-speed you can downshift quick to 3rd at about 40-45 mph and the jake hits so hard it breaks the back tires loose and leaves 2 short patches of rubber! Maybe I was never as agressive with it before, but after I adjusted my linkage a little, it seems to hit a lot harder.

As a downside though, the jake made the SPS 66 somewhat harder, and the 2-micron fuel filter kit from Glacier Diesel won't work. The vacuum pump sits so closely to the cp3 that there isn't room for the AN fitting... still working on a solution...

Nope, its an 03. I can get the exact price and the distributor he bought it from. either they messed up or everyone else is making bank.

Maybe I need re-edutcating then! :{ It happens. Is it '04 and up you need that compressor?

Otherwise; less then $700 is an incredible price.

Vacuum pump? I was told you could hook a hose up to it and use it to fill your tires, etc, hence I thought it was a compressor.

Atleast I got the years right then.

I think the best price I've been given on an ebrake setup for the truck -- Parts Only -- was about $1200. Plus a lot of labor if someone else installing.

I am sure Jacobs makes an exhaust brake for your auto. Check with them.

It's definitely vacuum, not compressor. Pac-Brake makes one that runs off of a compressor.

from what I understand, they are available, but you void your warranty with an auto. I could be wrong though. I may investigate further after riding in his truck with the brake now.

I've had mine a few months now, works good. It already has a hole tapped for a pyrometer on the new elbow. Are any of you 06 guys using this Jake with the new 06 Edge Juice w/Attitude?
