Just called my dealer and was surprised at the $. I even asked twice noting the Cummins both times.

It sure seems like a deal to me. Especially for the first change with what I understand the pain in the rear the oil filter is on first removal.

Good/Fair price or not?

Heck, even the cheapest quick oil change for my old 93 Honda Accord (Go ahead and laugh) was $26. 95 around here.

I paid the same for my first dealer oil change using a coupon. I also thought it was a good deal. However, I later heard from others that got it cheaper, but I still think $39. 95 is a good price!

Considering that it cost me about $10 to get an oil filter from Geno's, $20 for 3 gallons of Delo 400 from Walyworld, and about $20 to have the dealer change it, you are getting a good deal.

Thanks for the info. I was shocked and thought it was a deal.

I bought the oil filter/fuel filter/air cleaner package from Geno's and was planning to do it myself but thought I would let the dealer battle the oil filter the first time.

The dealer is in my home town about one hour away. Looks like I will let them do some and I will do some.

MadMike,

I didn't buy my truck from the that dealer but they have been doing my service. I am not 100% satisfied with their troubleshooting but they do have a heck of a deal on oil changes. There are a couple of other lube shops that will match their price to. However, I like the fact that the oil change is documented in Dodge's computer system. Watch the sticker they put on your windshield. They will want you to change the oil ever 3000 miles verses the 7500 that the manual calls for. I've been taking mine in every 5000. Maybe overkill but the price is right.

Thats what is was going to cost me at the dealer last week. But they took 1 hr and a half to do the oil change , and when I told them I wasn't happy because they told me it was only going to take 30 min. I got it for free. And the mech. broke his oil filter wrench getting the filter off :-laf They had a sign on the wall that said V10 and Cummins $40. 95 They may also try and charge you an oil disposal fee

My dealer charges $60. I won't ever pay that. Why do they feel the need to charge double? It may take twice as much oil, but it sure doesn't cost them twice as much to do.

I got a coupon book for 14 free oil changes when i bought the truck. I sure wish I could sell them; they are non transferrable. I really don't miss changing my own oil, even though it takes longer (with commuting and waiting) than doing it at home.

Oil change

When I bought my truck the dealer had a deal of 250. 00 1 time fee and changes oil for ever for free every 3K:eek: After a month they realized how much it cost them and did'nt offer it to anyone else. But that was after I have my contract:D
