Dealer oil change-What brand of oil did they use???

I had my first oil/filter and fuel filter change done this morning at the dealer. I provided both filters. But when I asked the guy at the advisor counter what kind of oil they used he only knew the weight. The invoice says:

FP-NUMBER: 4798232-AD

and a description of

DESCRIPTON: OIL 15W40 1081090

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

thanks in advance

When I had my oil changed at the dealer, I asked and was told that they put out bids for oil. They specify to the bidders the wieght (viscosity) Etc, and therefore, they could have Shell, Mobil, Sinclair or any other brand. So in summary, I guess that DC is not real picky.

they gave me seven years of oil changes and they use oil that came in a black bottel with the DC logos on it. The bottel labeling said it met the cummins standards

At one time Mobil supplied the DC oils. I don't know if this is still the case. I'm sure they put it out for bids every so often so Mobil may no longer be the provider.

I took mine in for the first oil change (also got the deal where I get the first 10 for free) and the dealer said they use Castrol for diesels. This is the largest dealer in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Sure hope they know what the h*** they're doing... this is my first diesel also.

Had mine changed yesturday too, I asked the same question and the advisor said "15-40 standard Diesel oil"..... Here is the Part #

13 quarts of #4798231 and 1081090

????????????????????????????

Usually the dealership will use the product reccomended by DC as there is a volume rebate at the end of the year based on volume. However some dealerships will buy the cheapest product they can find for their bulk tanks. As a former oil co rep I know this to be true.

I have had three oil changes at the dealer. Its always been the MOPAR 1 gallon jugs of oil. 15w40. When I was with a D. C. dealer it was Valoline that was being used by Mopar. (not the dealer bulk stuff) but the bottled D. C. oil. Mobile or Valoline I could care less. Next change is Amsoil 15w40.

Gentlemen Gentlemen

If you have a Costco near by you can get a 6 gallon case of Chevron Dello 400 15/40 out the door for $37. 00 and change. Myself and a buddy of mine buy the Fleetguard LF-3894's For $6 dollars and change when you buy 10 at a time from LA freightliner here in so cal. This make doing your own oil changes a wise choise :D. and we all know the quality of Dello. I work for Conocophillips and talking with the guys in motor research this stuff holds up right there with some of the better synthetics when changed out at normal intervals which is required using synthetics anyway.

Well, when I made my truck deal, part of the deal was that they thru in free oil changes!!!! So I was sent a little book of 14 coupons ( Supposed to last me the entire 70,000 mile warranty period of the truck)... . but I change it every 3,000. So I plan on USING my free-bees! LOLOL WOuld be nice to know that what DC is putting in the rig is the best!!! Sometimes I do alternate with my own oil changes to save my coupons... I used DELO 1540 about 3,000 miles ago. It is good stuff but turned BLACK VERY QUICK!!
