a friend of mine has a 2001 , with 53,000 miles and the lift pump took a dump on it , took it to the dealer for warranty work well no go, said lift pump is not under engine warranty then charged him 200 + dollars for diagnosics.
A. Wear that dealer out. Call every other dealer within 50 miles and find out their take on LP's. Call D/C and raise sand. Make them weary of all the grief a screwed customer can give them. Don't settle for a "free oil change".
B. Buy some DD3's and install them--then ask the dealer to put the core injectors up...
And never worry about warranty hassles and dealer monkeys screwing with the truck again. --almost it's own inner peace.
i hate dealers... . sometimes you just have to wonder how some stay in business... as much as i hate talking on the phone, id spend every waking moment i could trying to get this problem solved, they will wear out. and that is that!
I have a friend who is a service manager at a local dealer. he told me that the lift pump was covered under the 5year/100,000mile and the emissions warranty. press them or find a dealer who has a great diesel mechanic. i wouldn't pay the $200 bill.
well,i ended up fixing the boy's truck yesterday , he didn't have time to mess with the dealers so he went to cummins and spent $150. 00 on a new lift pump, and i put it on , now truck runs fine , but the guys back side is still a little raw.
