Dealer today...

I was at the dealer today (Earnhardt, Gilbert AZ) dropping of my truck for service. My Service manager and I got into a conversation on performance goodies and the CTD's. He told me there was an 05 with 27k miles in the back with a blown engine that DC was not going to cover due to a chip being installed. Apparantly the pistons/rings are shot.



I hate hearing stuff like this. I bet the guy wasn't running any gauges and had the chip set pretty high... Service Guy said 10k for a new engine form DC.

It's amazing how many uniformed owners are out there being taken advantage of by uniformed or unscrupulous vendors. I know of a guy in my area who had been selling Edge Comp's to owners of stock 2nd gen's with no warning of potential risk to transmission's, clutches, etc.

I agree with you, Im a business owner myself. It is amazing what a little honesty can do. I would rather sell someone a bunch of stuff over time than "put one over on somebody" once. I myself am new to diesels and bombing so I feel for someone that gets shafted like that, knowledge really is king except for cash. tee hee
