I received a letter from the Dealer yesterday offering to buy back my 05 Dodge Ram for the price I paid for it plus $200. Is that insane? No, I'm not at all tempted because I'd still be looking at big bucks for a new 2015 3500 Ram. They claim that the 3rd generation is in such high demand that they can make this offer. And I don't have to buy a new truck either. They will just buy it back for the purchase price plus $200. I spoke to the Dealer today and they said that it's because of the 5.9 Cummins engine. The do have a disclaimer in the event that the truck is wrecked or is need of major repair, which is understandable.

Has anyone else received this offer.

I haven't but I did just sell my 2001. I paid $25,000 for it back in 2002. It was 10 months old and had 9,800 miles on it when I bought it. As of last month, it had just over 100k on it. I sold it in 10 minutes on Craigslist for my full asking price of $15,000. Only $10k less than I paid for it 13 years ago. The 5.9's are in demand.

Got the same line last Saturday morning when I stopped at Hillview Motors in Greensburg to buy a couple of filters. When I came out, there was a salesman standing next to my '07 and was waiting to talk to me. Clamed the same thing, that it didn't matter if I bought a vehicle or not. He said that he has quite a list of people looking for one.

Depends on what deal they would give on the new one. Griz, one of the last 12 valve holdouts in Henderson just bought a new one. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.

Joe, what would it cost me to get into a 2015? Most likely another 30 to 40 grand. I'll keep what I have.

That played into how I ended up in a 2010 CCLB when I was looking for an 06-07 MegaCab. The quadcab just didn't have the backseat room that I needed so when looking at the 5.9 Megas and what they were charging for them we drove the truck in my signature and the rest is history. Living in SoCal I am not going to be doing any major mods to the engine anyway and for my needs the 6.7 has more than enough power. My wife like the 4th gen much better in how it drove and all the bells and whistles it had(big selling point). I have put 7k on it since purchasing and have had zero issues. I paid 29k for my truck which was less than any of the older models were going for in my area. I am not knocking anyone's truck, just pointing out how I ended up with mine. If I hit the lottery I would have an example from each Gen....maybe 2.

A few weeks ago looking at new 2500 Laramie's at the local pusher the floor lizard looked at my truck and commented I shouldn't take anything less than $20k for my 2003 2500 Laramie with 80k miles.

:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf So did you take 21K? :-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf

I was in at the local dealer the other day, and they had a sign out on the floor that they were looking for 03 and up diesels, with any mileage. I was driving my car around so I didn't get hassled. I don't want to pay the difference to replace it at this time.

Every time I take my truck in for an oil change, safety inspection, etc. someone at the dealership asks if I would sell my truck. Recently, when I was at the local lumber yard loading some fence posts, a man walked out to the post yard to ask me if I would sell my truck. My answer, not yet. :)

It appears that our 3 gen with the 5.9 are much in demand. I too have people asking me if I'd like to sell my truck.

You've got the perfect truck with highest TQ at 610 and 325HP with the rare NV5600 for an 05 MY. I can't wait for my G56 to fail to convert it to a NV5600.
