Dealer won't do 4 wheel alignment because of lift kit???

My Five Star dealer just informed me that they won't be able to do a 4 wheel alignment on my '99 QC 4x4 due to the 4" lift and BFG 35" A/T's. This seems like a load of BS to me. Has anyone ever heard this before? If so, where can I find a place that will align it? Tire shop?

He might be giving you a line of bull. I do alignments in my shop and don't see any reason he shouldn't do it unless it won't fit his rack with the big tires on it. It's your best bet to not use the dealer ( or anyone else for that matter ) who is uncomfortable working on your truck. Look in your area for a 4x4 shop and see who they use. Motorhome places are a good bet as well, they are setup to handle the added width of your truck.

The idea of "4-wheel alignment" is to hang the sensors on all the wheels and get true measurements of the thrust angle of the rear axle. This is to make sure that the steering wheel sits straight and that the truck tracks down the road in a straight line.

Oops! I didn't mean 4 wheel alignment. My Nissan 240sx gets the 4 wheel alignment!

Most dealers i know wont do any work on anything the factory did not install (Such as you lift kit). Its not that they cant do it, they dont want to do it since they dont want to deal with any problems you may have with it.

I had a friend with a Mustang that had a supercharger on it but it had a bad valve tap. He went to a ford dealer to have them do the work since they know those engines. The car was long out of warranty, he just wanted there expierience. They told him they would not do it since he had the supercharger. They did not want to touch his car because if they did, and something else went wrong they did not want him him telling everybody the dealer does bad work anything like that.

That would be my guess why they are telling you to go away.
