Short version: The positive reports you have read here at TDR about dealing with Dishman Dodge, in Spokane, Washington,. . as represented by salesman Adam Macomber and accessories man Josh Ullrich, are true! (See attached image)

After window-shopping the last 6-7 years for Cummins-diesel Rams, with both of us having reached or nearing retirement, Pat and I decided that the '07. 5 3500 6. 7L 6-speed auto was going to be the one for us. Our intended uses are primarily camper-hauling and boat-trailer or toy-box towing

I then discovered and joined TDR, read all the pertinent posts, and, aware there was a certain early-adopter risk, made the go-ahead decision.

Spending considerable time searching through dealer-experience reports, at TDR and elsewhere, we reduced the candidates to 3, ... Dave Smith(Idaho), Ron Tonkin Dodge(Gladstone, Oregon) and Dishman Dodge(Spokane,Washington).

Prices were all competitively low and close, ... so the choice was made on other factors.

The Oregon dealer is closest, about 50 miles away, Dishman is about 350-375 miles(one way), and Dave Smith an inconsequential additional distance.

My subjective impression was that the salesmen at both the Idaho and Oregon dealerships were capable and professional. Smith's man had the early advantage of the low-price-leader reputation, but my experience with him was limited to relatively short phone conversations, and he was the farthest away. The Oregon dealership was close enough for a personal visit, and Tonkin's Ken Ray (who posts here at TDR, I believe) made a very good first impression, seemingly very knowledgeable, and willing to take extra time to courteously answer our questions. He is probably the person from whom I would have bought, had we not gone to Dishman.

But,... the ravings of the satisfied Dishman customers here on TDR were difficult to ignore. Subsequent phone calls to Adam, sometimes lengthy, solidified my opinion that here was someone I might actually enjoy doing business with,... and I am not easy to satisfy in this regard.

It is not unusual to find a smiling, courteous, sales-type, ... it's their stock in trade, after all,... and competition can force a general similarity in prices.

But a salesman who actually has a fairly broad knowledge of his product, ... and a willingness to dig-for and come back with the answers that are not readily available, is a real find.

The current situation asks even more of such a salesman, because the newness of the product features, engine/exhaust system, transmission, etc. , and the influx of pro/con reports from an increasing number of field-reporting owners ...combine to make it difficult to "keep up" with the questions of potential customers.

I am among those who ask the questions. Lots of questions. ;)

Adam was patient, helpful, and friendly, and at the same time willing to do whatever extra work was required to find some answers.

I had a distinctly different impression when shopping at my local dealer(not named in this post), and was not at all confident that I was getting the straight scoop about the new models. Thus my out-of-town dealing. I will try the local dealer's service department, though, because they supposedly have a diesel-tech of excellent reputation. Satisfaction in that regard is yet to be determined.

A second unexpectedly pleasant element of the Dishman experience was Adam's introducing me to Josh Ullrich, when the time came to discuss accessories to be added after the truck arrived at the dealer.

Working with Josh was another completely rewarding experience, ... he demonstrated a similar willingness to listen-to and go seek the answers-for whatever questions I came up with (and again,I worked at it). It was a distinct pleasure to discuss the rig with Josh, whose friendly manner, along with that of Adam, makes stopping by to say hello if/when we pass that way again, ... seem like a "must".

This helpfulness did not end when we drove away. I have called/e-mailed and received responses from both Adam and Josh since returning home, and they have repeatedly assisted my efforts to learn (and share on TDR) more about the unfamiliar systems on these new trucks.

Both Adam and Josh are aware of and visit TDR, ... and the "TDR member" price consideration is another plus.

[ I do not wish to speak for Adam, re. pricing, because these things constantly change,... but a phone call will get you the latest info,... and I'm sure it will be very competitive, if not the absolute lowest you can find. Adam's phone number is (509) 924-3250, Ext 205 ]

I will report on the performance of my truck, and its features, another time. Basically all is so-far satisfactory (an understatement,... we BOTH love this truck)!

The "dealing" was one of the most satisfying examples of a high-dollar multi-detailed transaction I have ever experienced. I believe at least one of Adam's customers drove from as far away as Texas, ... and so far as I know, all of us who have traveled for the privilege have considered it worth the effort.

My independent and un-solicited opinion is that Adam and Josh have earned, by genuine service, the accolades that are given them in post after post here at TDR.

Along with sincere appreciation, I gladly give them my highest recommendation!

PS: Two fortunate circumstances added to the rewards of this experience.

First, due to situational dictates which postponed the actual day of "pick-up", our truck was JUST able to have the latest-at-that-time "Rev. A" re-flash done, before delivery.

Second, completely unexpectedly, when we arrived at the hotel where we stayed at the recommendation of Adam (I believe), we opened the door to discover that our room included an adjacent private swimming pool, no less, which we had been given as an unannounced courtesy, when the room we thought we had reserved was unavailable.

Nice room. Nice night. Nice trip. Nice people. :)

The attached image shows Dishman's crew, and Wolfy's crew. It favors you with the handsome countenances of both of these fine gentlemen, along with the smiling face of my happy navigator/co-pilot, Pat. (Adam is toward front of truck, Josh near the bed)

Best wishes to all,

Dishman Dodge

I concur 100% with Wolfy. . :) Adam and Josh did an outstanding job on our truck as well... very easy to work with, honest, knowledgable and if they didn't know the answer they wouldn't try to BS their way through it, they would get the answer if at all possible. Todd (Adam's boss) also did an outstanding job and hopefully is taking good care of Adam. ;)

With just over 3200 miles we are very happy with our purchase... it's so nice to drive the other half hardly ever gets a chance to get behind the wheel, not with me in it anyway. :-laf

Geez..... I've got to plug Rob Crosswhite... . I've been working with him at Dishman for a number of years and have placed my order for a 08 5500... . I'm guessing its at least 60-90 days out... . but thats fine... ...

I agree. I picked my C&C up on Saturday. I drove 1100 miles out to pick it up. The service I received was above and beyond what was expeected. I had bearing issues on the trailer as I pulled in to Spokane (at 1:00 am). I then got to the dealership at 8 am when the service dept opened. I explained what my dilemma was and they grabbed the trailer, packed all four bearings and had the trailer ready by the time I completed the transaction for the pickup..... no appointment just got me in and got me back on the road! The transaction and service in both departments From Adam, Todd and Larry were top notch.

That really is impressive.

Glad you had such a good experience.
