Just did my first DEF last night, Used Peak 2-2/2 gal from Walmart.
Gauge went from 20% to 80%, so accuracy not too bad.

But I was the dummy trying to figure out how to connect the Peak spout to the jug and then the little rubber piece. Of course I installed the rubber backwards and dripped some DEF even with my finger over the end.
Why is it that clarity comes AFTER you screw up? Duhhhh! A little pic on the Peak box would help people like me!!! #@$%!
OK, just in case there are others like me, insert the rubber into the hole in the side of the nozzle cap so the oval open end is OUTSIDE and the flat part is inside. (Hint: allows air to enter jug after is have partially collapsed!)
:D

Duh, dummy #2, Noticed I misspelled DEF in Title of post and cannot edit it

I'm going on 900 miles on the Odometer and the needle still hasn't moved off full. Not sure if it's stuck or I'm using that small amount. Most of my driving has been town stop and go for the most part so far, although I made 150 miles on the highway yesterday, still no movement. I did see the regen, I assume as the mpg dropped to about 21 indicated for 15 minutes or so.

At the fuel economy figures you're reporting, that's still nothing to be concerned about if you started with a completely full DEF tank.

It's probably better to run down to near empty, then add two for 5 gals total (tank is 5.5 gallons)
This way you're not mixing the new with the old. The system checks quality as well as level, who needs potential problems down the road?

Also, my last fill took it to 2500 miles before it moved off full, the next 600 has put me at 1/2 tank level.

I normally let mine get down to 1/4 or less and add 1 2 1/2 gallon jug and it takes it up to 3/4 or a little more, unless I am on the road towing that will last for months and with the high summer heats possibly degrading the quality of the DEF I don't want more than that.

That's what we do. So far we're getting about 1,000 miles between adding 2.5 gallons of DEF. Only once did we use a truck stop to fill it up. For us it is easier just to buy some when we are "close" then add it add our convenience. Most of our travel is hooked up so we don't feel this is too bad. Hugs, Di

To Dutch & Di,

You finally bought a new truck! Congrats! We too just bought a 2014. What a ride! You may remember me from the Carriage Travel Club. Hope to run into you two somewhere (maybe TN in Sept??).

Sure I remember you. Yep, Dutch felt that after putting 341,700 miles on our 1996 it might be time to get a new one. Bought it in October and already have over 10,000 miles on it. Wow, I thought we were going to slow down. I don't see any way at this time with us being in CA then Oregon that we could be in TN in September but hopefully we can run into each other somewhere down the road. Congrats on your 2014!!! Hugs, Di
