ok, here's one for ya gang--

how do i remove the Dodge and 4x4 deacls from my tailgate.

i've heard a blowdryer on high does the trick. is it hard? do i need to treat the paint with anything before i put new decals on?

also how do i get the name badges on the doors off--this is for future reference for my wife's white sport that's in the planning

stage.

thanks

tntway,

What I did was the following:

For the decals, heat slightly with a hair dryer, lift one corner with your fingernail then slowly pull the decall up and off the surface. No big deal.

As to the name badges, these take a little more work; their stuck on with industrial 3M 2 sided tape. What I did was heat the tabe and badge with a hair dryer, then lifted one corner with a small flat blade screwdriver. BEFORE using a screwdriver, use a towel, duct tape, masking tape or some other type of covering so you don't scratch the paint. Place some tape around the blade of the screwdriver. Lift one corner then slowly pry the emblem off. This will take some time. DON'T RUSH IT! After you get the emblems off, clean off the residual tape by rubbing it off with your fingers. After you get all the residual tape off, use some denatured alcohol to get what's left off the paint. Apply some wax to the affected areas, and your done.

The above worked for me. Others may have better suggestions. :D

To take the badges off, take a piece of fishing line or dental floss,

place under the edge of the badge, and using a sawing motion, the string will cut through the 3m tape removing the badge without damaging the paint, then use Goof-Off, or a similar product to remove the remaining glue/tape.

A hair dryer and plastic putty knife from home dept works well for the emblems and body molding- raw fingers removes the rest of the foam tape, and Orange goo remover takes off the adhesive. Mine were on for 6 years before I took them off. MAJOR pain in the ass. Newer (father in laws 99) came off pretty easy.

I took mine off today. Emblems came off easy, foam backing is a pain in the you know what. I got a blister on my thumb trying to get the foam off. Heat gun worked good for emblems and stickers on tailgate. Cleaned with rubbing alcohol, then waxed.
