How is the best way to remove the letters from the tailgate and the trim moulding from the doors? I want to put different DODGE and 4X4 letters on the tailgate, and want to remove the plastic door trim.

TIA

The best way I have found to remove the plactic lettering on the tailgate, is to use a hair dryer. Now be careful here don't let the heat build up in one area to long, move the dryer around. I won't take to long the adhesive will let go pretty quick. Good Luck Gunny By the way what are you replacing the lettering with?

Didn't need heat nor solvents.

My truck was 9 months old when I removed the decals. I went real slow and was able to peel them off. I used the fishing line method to remove the emblems from the doors.

I'm replacing the lettering with a different size / font / color. I've found a good looking set for my truck, that "SHOULD" (crossing my fingers) look good with the pinstriping that I'm about to put on. Thanks guys. You're great.

Dont use a hair dryer, unless you want to clean and clean glue. What I did was first thing in the morning while it was cool was went out and started to pick at the corners then once you get a corner the letters come right off. Then there is no glue to deal with.

BTW what the fishing line method? Want to take off the side plates.

I'm with sky. I removed my lettering and did not use a hair dryer. Just carefully get it started and s l o w l y peel it off. I used WD-40 and alcolol to remove what little glue was left.

Sky, I removed my side plates to put on the decals I got from Iceman. (look GREAT). Getting lots of head turning and slow downs to look as I go by. After seeing the "Cummins 24 Valve Turbo Diesel" decal, the PSD's have laid back instead of comming on up beside me. "I'm stock, but don't tell anyone. "

I just pulled the plates off with much tugging. I think the fishing line method is to use the fishing line to slowly see-saw the line up and down behind the plate. The plates are held on with some double-sided rubber cushion stuff. I wish I had some, it's good stuff.

There was not much on the drivers side but more stayed on the truck on the passenger side. The outside temp. was about 95 at 11:00am. when I got to the pass. side. I think if it had been cold outside they would have come off completely. I actually scraped most of the rubber stuff off with a plastic ice scraper used to clean windshields, (being very careful you see) then using WD-40 and alcohol. Total time to remove was probably 30 minutes including cleaning off the stickie.
