Looking to upgrade from dialup. Anybody using any decent nationwide DSL services? How much a month? I'm thinkin my $24 a month I donate to AOL could be better used elswhere.

There's a reason AOL is AKA "America Off Line"!

It's simply mind-boggling what people will put up with!

To answer your question: AOL (believe it or not) & Earthlink both have a national presence.

Just curious why you specified nationwide providers? Don't know if DSL is as 'portable' as dial-up in terms of service. What I'm trying to say is: is that just about any ordinary phone line supports dial-up but the same line WON'T support DSL speeds.

Good luck.

Figured on that. Nationwide because there is not very many if any local services here in BFE. Just looking for some reputable companies to start with. :)

Forgot to mention that there are a couple of DSL sites that will actually test your # for availability & then list the providers for your area. One is dslreports.com. You should be able to do the same thing thru your local phone co's website. Also, another possible option is cable. It's faster than DSL & usually cheaper as well. Try the co's website for availability, or better (easier) yet, just call. The # should be on your monthly bill.

One word of warning tho: If you have a non-standard computer configuration be prepared to have your character tested during setup.

Good luck.
