im looking at a 97 2500 reg cab 5spd 4x4 with 141K on it. the list of mods are as follows; been painted black, boost/pyro guages, fuel plate, DV's, injectors, southbend 13" dual disc, 5th gear nut, HD input shaft, trans cooler, 4" lift, 35" M/T's. the price is 14K. should i jump on it or wait for something thats unmodded? sounds like it was built right and the seller says its never been offroad. please help!!! :{ :confused: :( :--) :-{}

If you are in the northeast it's a great price. Things here are insane, I had to pay 10K to buy my 94' bone stock with 244K miles on it! Granted it is in extremely good condition for age and mileage (no rust, mint interior), but a 5 speed around here ups the resale value about 2-3K.

Connecticut, the 2 other reg cab 5spds i called about were sold. it seems impossible to find a decent stick around here 12v or 24v. Does anyone have production numbers for 2nd gen regular cabs?

Yeah like I said the 5 speed actually ups the resale like 2 or 3K, they are pretty rare. I know of a place around here that specializes in cummins manual trans trucks, it's where I bought mine. They won't buy automatics, they are all manual. So I had about 5-6 to choose from, but I couldn't afford most of them... they were mostly over 14K. There was a 98' 12 valve 5 spd CC LB for $16K, but I couldn't swing that much at that time.

It seems high... . I just purchased a similiar truck with 130K miles with a fibergalss topper, gauges, 4" exhaust, plate for around $8K. The standard transmission usually brings 1-2K more than the autos.

That clutch alone adds another $2K to the price... . another 2K for manual transmission, now we are up to $12K. Lift and tires pretty much make up for that other 2K. Seems like a fair price to me when to take into account everything.
