Here, Here! Larry and John... I feel the same way about HVAC since he has become a vendor.

I have emailed him several times about this, cause I didn't want it on the board. However, my emails did not seem to be understood in the fashion they were meant.

I have been chatting with HVAC since last fall, intermittently, about products. Talked to him several times prior to installing my Blue Box. He was very encouraging. A big help.
With that said, I think anyone who becomes a vendor comes under a little different set of rules. And on a lot of previous posts, it was something like this... I recommend DD3s, I recommend DD3s... now it is the PE... what is next, and is there any real consideration into what is best for that individual? A guy has an auto transmission, wants a little extra power, doesn't want to beef up the transmission, and yet the recommendation was stage 3s, etc. Now its the PE.
Understand that I am not questioning any of these products. I am not questioning the dirt under his fingernails. I think some people are a little more willing to recommend high HP mods without regard to the ability to cover the repairs/upgrades to the other parts of the truck.
I am thankful for all of the vendors that post here. Their information is appreciated. Some post differently than others, in my opinion. I haven't seen any responses to this topic from other vendors... how do you feel? If you don't want to post here, maybe you should send it directly to a moderator or Rob Spading.

Sorry Papa Joe, I believe I utilized the word in question EXACTLY as intended (and still stand by it)! Lying or misrepresenting another manufacturers product is rude too (AT BEST)! Myself, as well as others are getting sick and tired of HVAC's antics of skewing data to make what ever product he is representing at the time (either officially or unofficially), seem like it is the only logical option. A simple, accurate, unbiased portrayal of the facts would be welcome... all other interested parties could then draw their own conclusions as to which path would be the best for them to pursue. Skewed data only complicates and clouds things.

Just a question guys. Why can't a guy recommend both?... the DDIII's and/or the PE?? They came on the scene at different times so naturally they were tried and tested at different times, it's not like the "flavor of the month" as implied. Also, I don't think HVAC is 'irresponsible' as implied, with no regard to each individual's rig. . he always asks things like... 'how much power do you want'?... 'tell us more about you're truck, what are you running'?

I thought twice about posting on this because it just perpetuates the conversation... this is goofy. . I think all should just chill, it's not like there's some major fraud going on here.

Peace unto all! #ad

jjdiesel, there is nothing wrong in recommending both. The problem lies when false or skewed data is portrayed about the competition, thereby not allowing an accurate comparison of products.

Alright now I have a real dilema, i own a bar and sell beer, does this mean I can't talk about my truck anymore?? #ad

jjdiesel... if you read the post above, he did not ask about other mods to the truck. Nor did he ask what the truck was being used for. He did infer that for the same cost, you could either gain 75hp or 20hp. This is a thread on decisions... pe or va. that says a few things to me... and others.
1. Why spend the same and get less?
2. The VA is rated at 20hp increase.
3. The PE is rated at 75hp increase.

Now, I did a search, and posted the results, which has several points. The VA has been dynoed at 40+hp at 2200rpm. There was no mention that the VA also helps with the timing issue. There was no mention of the stumble and water issues. There was no mention of the PE being rated at 80hp in most other posts(hot#3 at 100+).
I have never heard he is selling VAs til that post. I have read numerous posts that he sells the PE. I don't blame him for that, if I was excited about a product as much as he is, I would want to promote and sell it, too. I just feel that if you are a vendor, you have the responsibility to tell the WHOLE story, not part of it.
What if I said a product gave you ZERO HP increase and it only cost you $1000. 00. I would be telling the truth, but what I wouldn't be doing is telling you the whole story. At just over 1800rpms, the DD3s on the 98. 5 ram graph shows zero increase at that rpm. Now, if I wanted you to know the whole story, I could tell you that at higher rpm, we can achieve 100+hp from those injectors. I could also pick any number/rpm in the equation. Would I be wrong? NO. Would it be a way of making an informed decision? NO. That is what my point is. I could do this with any product.
I enjoy working on my Ram. I enjoy others coming over and helping them work on their Rams. My fingers have a bit of dirt on them. Most vendors have even more. (I am not a vendor). I am far from an expert. Most of us aren't. We rely on the info on this board. It should be the best and most accurate data we can find. Our Rams and our pocketbooks depend on it.

My take on HVAC is that he is an enthusiast who gets a big kick out of making his truck go really fast. He has carried that over into starting a business trying to make some $ doing something he enjoys. More power to him. It's obvious that his main bias is towards horsepower, horsepower and more horsepower. Anybody reading these forums who has a pulse should be able to dicern this. So take his recommendations with that in mind.

It seems to me that the dispute over VA power has to do with rpm. The VA has always had a rep as being particularly beneficial at low to middle rpm and running smoother. Due to it's timing improvement. You wouldn't expect big numbers on the top end from timing, that's where more fuel comes in. That's what the PE does. Two different animals, two different methods, two different results. The 20hp HVAC quotes for the VA is at the power peak, because that's the area he's interested in. For others (such as myself) who use their truck more as truck than a hot rod, the 40hp improvement at 2000rpm gets our attention. See, John? That wasn't so difficult to figure out, he's not lying about the VA, it just doesn't do what he's interested in.

Let's try to have a little less hate and discontent.
