I realize there is an endless array of front grille guards for the 2nd generation trucks, and I would like to locate one that combines a very TIGHT fit to the bumper and front of the truck to reduce total truck length to a minimum, since I only have about 4 inches of available space to still get my truck in my garage.

Naturally, appearance and structural strength is absolutely required, since we DO have lots of deer in this area - and I am concerned as to mounting methods, since there seems to be pretty poor options in securing guards on our trucks, and looks without adequate resistance to impact is pretty pointless.

Any suggestions or pointers out there?

I'm assumming you just want a grille guard and not a bumper. However Buckstop is in your neck of the woods, you would save a ton on shipping and have all the durability you would ever need :)

I have a bench in my garage and the truck doesnt fit pulled in forward, but it does backwards :-laf

Gary I went with a manik grill guard on my 2004 truck. I did a little research before I bought mine. S. Michigan has plenty of deer also so I wanted something somewhat sturdy enough to take a good shot from a fair size whitetail deer. The manik grill fits tight to the bumper,it has two levers on each side the lets the grill fold ahead to open the hood of the truck. I bought the crome platnuim stainless one,as we have a crap load of road salt in the winter time here on or roads. coobie :D
