It is my understanding that only the chassis-cab trucks come with a DEF filter.

That's interesting. So if those trucks have a filter, that means filtration could be an issue...and we don't have one. Hmm. I suspect they assume most non-commercial owners fill up out of a sealed container, and not a questionable DEF source at a questionable fuel station.

My service manual states the filter is in the in tank DEF pump assembly. I'd assume like the gross fuel filter in the fuel tank. Thus I'd assume that it is replaced when the pump unit fails. Not sure how much junk would be in urea and water mixture.

Anywhere a $130k+ rig fuels up is just fine for my little RAM 3500.

I've been through 228.501 gallons / $685.69 worth of DEF over the last 149,804 miles. Only 25 gallons of that total came from 2.5 gallon jugs; the remainder was bulk at the pump. No issues at all with bulk DEF......If you look around hard enough----there's more than one story where some turd bought DEF at WalMart, replaced it with water, then returned it to WalMart for a full refund......even with a re-glued seal on the jug.

Internet legends are alive and well! Snoking

I have not checked on the new trucks, but the older CC trucks had a total of 3 screens or filters in the system. The ones that usually tripped up the technician were the screens on the tank nipples.
