My saga is 8 weeks long so far. I got the dreaded (150 miles until the computer takes over to the 5 mile limp mod) living 15 miles from dealer I took it in. wow 4 weeks later I get it back with a supossedly new DEF system , yeah right. 15 miles to home and 1/4 tank of DEF used according to gauge, back to dealer another 1/4 tank reading 1/2 tank. Prognosis is bad DEF pump module ? part #68192659-AF and according to dealer there are 500 + other trucks awaiting same item, and only 47 in the dodge supply system. Just In Time supply system not working ? obviously there is an engineering problem somewhere ? So a part was reported on its way to my dealer and after a total of 4 weeks the second time for the same problem. Maybe he said I will get my truck back by friday (if the new pump checks out) seems like on these forums that some people and dealer verified that the pump might not check out ????? This is my second pump. does anyone have any feed back on a REAL fix to this problem ? it would seem to me that these are all season/weather trucks and there should be a permanent fix. I know I live in Alaska but I also have a mercedes 3.0 RV engine that is running just fine in these weathers.

I don't understand the problem. Is it giving you the message x miles to shut down, or is the gauge just reading wrong? I just looked and it is showing 501 on back order, but stock in process. There are only 50 or so parts on VOR, the highest priority you can get, so if it was my dealer and he really needs another one (diagnosed correctly?) I would make sure it is on VOR.

We are having a miserable time getting them for the Freightliner and Western Star trucks. It's called a "DEF Header" but it's the in tank pick up unit. Talked to a Parts Manager buddy at a Navistar dealership and he is pulling his hair out trying to get some for the Navistar trucks...

Wondering if it the same vendor making them for everyone???

We had to wait an extra 2 months for some 18 speed Fullers to arrive.....the reason.......gears are made in Puerto Rico.....a lot of our countries supply chain has been disrupted as a result of the issues there...

It doesn't take much going wrong when dealing with "Just In Time Inventory" to create a huge shortage.....

And I have to throw this one out there as a perfect example of an OEM's decision with bad follow through....

Racor created a proprietary fuel filter head and element for the Daimler Medium Duty line. Locked down tight, dealers only. Then they ran OUT as a result of the cold winter and poor planning of inventory....get well date is the end of February....what to do until then??

I am not proud to say that I bought some off e-bay Friday night...had new trucks we could not deliver because the fuel filters were plugged...

Hoping that the genius behind this whole debacle is now peddling Hot Dogs from a rolling cart somewhere....

I can tell you what my one of my sons has done. He was facing the same issues you are having and his truck was out of warranty so the $$$ were out if his pocket. It was cheaper and easier and faster to install the EFI Live and the Edge CTS2 Monitor along with a TBE than spend the $$$ on the def system. He has a 2013.5, 2500 Ram, 6.7L sold in Canada and reimported to the US for sale. Truck runs great now and there are no more CELS or any emission issues.

Well to my great joy , I have my truck back and all it took was pressing the returned from vacation service manager to call and find out "how can we solve this thing". Well part showed up in 24 hrs, truck is running ok I think time will tell since weather is supposed to be in single to below 0 tonight and I have to use it 1st thing in AM. I must say that after 5 of these trucks , this is the only real problem I have ever had with them in 20 years. :)
