I know with fuel filters you should only go with Mopar filters. What about DEF pumps? Mopar only or any specific aftermarket name? HUGE price difference from OE to aftermarket.
Thanks

Look at who the manufacture of the pump. I had to have mine replaced back in may while on a trip. Huge shout out to Laurel Valley Motors in Latrobe PA for getting me in and having me back on the road in 3 hours! Price was a bit high do to being at a dealer but they got me in and out pretty quick. Also was surprised that repair came with 2 yr no mileage warranty! Mine was leaking for who knows how long before it quit telling the truck there was DEF in the tank. Pump would pump with test on AlfaOBD but level gauge was gone! Would've been able to do if happened at home. Need a fuel pump lock ring tool for removal. If you've got codes, make sure to get them all cleared out. Also, you may want to check the DEF injector for crystallization build up. Had that pop up shortly after returning back home! Sucks when truck goes into DE-Rate mode! Hope you get it fixed without breaking the bank!

So it sounds like you had a Mopar pump installed.

At the dealer, so yes, it was a Mopar pump. Not sure of the manufacturer for the one I got. I know at the time, it was pump and o-ring separate. (old part number) The new pump number includes the o-ring and went up $600!

What's the latest on your DEF issues???
At the Dealer. They said it needs a new pump. They’re no where because of the strike. I called 10 dealers that showed them, but they were brought in for customers. I found an OE one and they will install an OE part if I provide it. But it sounded like they replace it and retest. Really such a simple system that’s $$$$. They wanted to charge me $2677 for the pump, seal and 2.5 gallons of DEF. And that’s no labor or diagnoses which comes to like $1000. They will probably have less then 2 hours into it. going to look into buying a scanner or something, because this is insane.

Only wiTech can reset DEF and generally emissions codes.

But anyway it is smart to have AlfaOBD* on hand for any other problem.

*only this - nothing else, no Scanner, no code reader, no nonsense - Alfa is the way to go with these trucks.

Ryan do it yourself!!! Does Moparpartsforless have one in stock???
I can’t rememmber, but I don’t think so. Plus they are in Georgia I believe. I was going to drive to DC to pick one up as they showed one but when they went to put their hands on it, it was not there. I got one on Amazon for a little over $1100 with 2 day shipping. Will have it on Monday. If I knew that after installing the pump that the you have so many miles to go into limp mode would go away, I would do it. I would only need to order a $20-$30 tool to remove the retaining clip on the pump.

That’s why it’s at the dealer for that reason.
I’ve done some light reading on the Alfa. But they only work on Android or Windows. I run all Apple, so I don’t think it is adaptable to Apple.

Well, buy a 50$ Tablet then, that's what we all do because the Android version is the common one, only a few people use it on Windows.

It's up to you, because this is the only software, scanner, you name it that really works on our trucks.
Aside from wiTech or Snap-on which are prohibitively priced.

moparpartsforless.com is online.
I know as it has .com at the end, but I need the past ASAP as I’m at a place that I have to be out of on Thursday. I’m 99% sure I called them and then found out that they are in Georgia. That is why I was calling people. There were dealers from Niagara Falls to the border of PA and Md that showed them. Every single one of them had a customers name on it. I was looking to drive with in a 6 hour radius, so I could get a pump. Nothing. I knew I saw one on Amazon and called that vender to see if I could pick it up, left a voice mail. I was able to two day air it for more of a cost and don’t have to drive up to 12 hours.
A lot of places don’t have it because of the AUI strike.

Some of the emissions codes can not be reset even with wi-Tech. The monitor(s) has to run by itself in order to pass and clear the code.

One of my biggest fears is having my pump fail on the road. It's an easy swap in my shop as I have done a 2019. Really feel for you on this especially when you have half the miles I do same year trucks.

It’s also a bad time as the strike is causing parts shortages. An Amazon vender hosed me but luckily I found another pump 8 hours away that is costing $150 to over night ship. Looks like an easy job. Two bolts to remove the cover. Disconnect electrical connector and seal it up. Remove line and take special tool to remove pump retaining ring. Pull out and reverse.
Dealer wants $3500 for check out and pump replacement. They don’t have the pump, so it’s going to be less. And then the retesting begins. I’m hoping they don’t say I need the line and injector. The rest of the system.

If someone is looking for an OE DEF pump module 68085908AH let me know before I send it back. Don’t pay the $1700 plus list price or the $150 core fee or even sales tax. $1300 plus actual shipping costs. I have it in hand. They are hard to come by because of the strike. Every dealer that shows one 200 mile radius of me has a customers name on it.

You have been running around for weeks to get one - and now you sell it?o_O
Bought one and paid for 2 day shipping. 4 days latter the label was printed and the carrier did not have it. Found another one and had it over nighted. The first pump came in today. There was NO communication. That vendor on Amazon SUCKED. We read his reviews afterwards and the last 20 reviews stated the guy never shipped anything. Working on returning it, but thought I would offer it up before I ship it back. Just trying to save someone a HUGE headache.
