It's a big issue. DEF contamination. Today I was shown a refractometer that shows DEF purity. Works the same as the refractometer for coolant. Here's the wiki on what it is for those not in the know. This is a handy tool for someone who owns or operates equipment using DEF.

I have an image of the instruction page which I will post later. I thought it was interesting to see, and it works well. Our sample was in range.
 
That's a good point Bob. What mixes well with DEF that couldn't be detected otherwise? My one time with DEF contamination had the fluid milky white, but a thorough flush, filter screen change and commanded pump run saved us that time.

Bob, upon rereading the sheet, it could detect impurities such as diesel fuel. But I guess this plus test strips is the total package. What strips do you use?
