I am looking to add a Sirius in-dash tuner to my OE head unit (in-dash 6-CD changer - RBQ) in my 04. 5. After reading about 62,895,816 posts, all conflicting as to whether this can be accomplished, I was wondering if there's anyone out there that has...

1) An RBQ radio and using an in-dash - not PnP - Sirius tuner. In other words, tuner is controlled from the OE head unit.

2) If the answer to #1 is "yes", does the artist / song info show on the head unit display?

3) Any bugs? I've heard that with some adapters (PIE CHRY02-AUX) the volume will cut out occasionally, but is reset simply by turning the radio off and then on. That being said, all the websites offering the adapter say it's not compatible with the RBQ.

Any help is appreciated - I will post full install when complete.

No can do with the RBQ. I think I read just as many posts on the subject, did installs on 4 Rams, and 2 Jeeps. My current truck is an RBQ. I have a p-n-p for Sirius. Plus the other PITA with the RBQ is that you can't hardwire a p-n-p either. By that I mean you can't select Sirius with your mode button without also tuning a station number to broadcast to the pnp.

On mine it broadcasts directly to the antenna cable via an interface but thats not hardwire IMO cuz the Sat signal is going through your antenna feed.

I use this mount: http://www.panavise.com/pdf_indash/75105-502.pdf

Errr - rats

Matt B. - Thanks for the info. If this in-dash tuner doesn't pan out, I will definitely use that mount - it's the best I've seen by far given limited mounting options in the truck.

My lingering question is that in my OEM manual, under RBQ radio, it says "To select Sirius Satellite Radio (if equipped), press the MODE button until the word SIRIUS appears... " I know there are multiple part #s for sales code RBQ radios (across all Chrysler / Jeep / Dodge lines) and I know my radio has an empty 10-pin connector on the back from when I pulled it to do the direct connection, only to find out I needed another $50 in antenna adapters (sat antenna is still installed :-laf).

So I might hold out a little to see if anyone else has done a successful install maybe based on part # (of course, I didn't write down the part # when I pulled the head unit .

Thoughts?

I bought the factory hardware for mine including the antenna and had it installed. I don't get the artist and song read out but the boss does in her 300. It came with the Sirius from the factory. The factory hardware was a nice install but it's a little pricey and you have to drill a hole in the roof for the factory style antenna.

Not looking good

Dang - not looking good for me on this project. I was hoping a couple hundred members would say, "Yep - PIE CHRY02/PC-KNNSR works great with a Kenwood unit" or "The CHRY02-AUX works just fine with an aftermarket Sirius. " :-laf. I have to wait until I get back the garage next weekend, but I guess it looks like I'll be getting that bracket. Thanks for the info!

Like pullya, I bought the kit from the dealer, and installed it myself and hooked it to the RBQ. Works fine, but no artist/song display.

I bought the oem sirius tuner for my rbq and could not get it to work, tried 3 seperate tuners to no avail. The dealer was zero help on this. Was I doing something wrong? Vague instructions, dealer was stumped as to if the computer had to be programmed for it. Any ideas?

AmericanShooter, when you say you could not get it to work, what was it doing? Just not recognizing it at all? Not getting a signal? I just drilled the big hole in the roof of my week-old truck (scary), put the antenna in, ran the wires, mounted the box WAY up above the parking brake (where the directions showed), plugged it in, and it worked. I later had the box replaced under warranty as it would randomly get "snow", and there was a TSB for it.

Well, after failing miserably at getting the "definitive" answer, I decided to go with an aftermarket head unit and just use my PnP tuner. I used the vehicle mount that came with the unit (highly modified) and the audio out to the AUX in on the head unit. I'm totally satisfied as I get all the scores for all my teams real time, even when I'm not listening to the game, and I have a USB connector (routed through the glove box) so I can listen, charge and control my iPod, WM 6. 0 phone or charge my Bluetooth headset.
