Defrost blend door!

Yup my blend door finally bit the dust to the tune of $800. 00 yesterday. Does anyone know if the updated part is better than the old one.

i believe there is an updated door for your yr truck, mine broke for the 2nd time still under warrenty, thank god. mine was replaced with the same door... .

Improved door??? I certainly hope so as countless other Dodge owners

do. There have been so many repeat breakages until I doubt very seriously

there are improvements. It has been 2 years and 20 days ago when mine

was replaced and it still works. I try to exercise it as much as possible in hopes that if it does bind in any manner of position it won't stick and break.

It appears at Chrysler that window regulators in Jeeps & defrost doors

in Dodge trucks aren't a problem. They just replaced the window regulators

in both front doors of our '07 Laredo .

If you are talking about the recirc door then yes there is an improved part being used. The complete housing with actuator gets changed... ..... I did 3 of them today :-laf

Bob, Would a december '06 build, 2007 have the better parts? Have you done any '07's?

IIRC the date the new doors started in production was 6-7 or there abouts.

What would cause the passenger side vents to blow warm air when the drivers side blows cold air when both climate controls air at full cold. I've already had the recirc door warranty work done? Is this a simple repair? Thanks in advance.

Could be as simple as a low charge or blend door or actator issues. I have seen a few blend doors with strpped gears as well. In that case the evap housing has to be pulled out.

OK so how do you know what parts to replace. I have a 03 and if you put all the air on the floor it comes out the defrost and none on the floor. mine is out of warnty and will be doing this my self.

Each door in the evap housing has it's motor or actuator. Depending on what system you have the actual number will vary. There are Blend,Mode,reccirc on all trucks,others will have more.

Just took my 06 in today for blower motor noise/vibration. Keeping the truck till tomorrow for broken blend door. giving me a rental car under warranty. praying they don't butcher my dash.

It's funny, I have exactly the opposite strategy. I try to move the vent position as little as possible, and when I do I go very slowly, pausing at each position for several seconds.



So far so good.
