Defueling?

does the motor defuel when the transmission is slippin as a factory pre-caution or is it just when there is a chip on the truck? I took my edge of my truck an replaced it with a smarty an i like it but when i romp on it i think i can feel my transmission slippin an my motor defuels... . does that sound right? My truck has 54k miles an stock transmission with no fluid change or filter change. smarty was on level 3 but i went to level 1 to save transmission... ..... I am gettin a transmission soon so i dont want to wast money to flush it change fluid an filter.

There is really no slip monitor on the trans. About all I can find is it does some shift timing using rpm's and output shaft speed.



Look at your rpm's, if you are powering thru the fluid coupling it will flash to red line and defuel becuase the TC cannot handle the input TQ.

Remember..... alot of your trans hard parts are reused when you rebuild. Don't sacrafice them by not servicing or letting it slip and overheat. MY $0. 02
