I am now some what confused. Being born and raised in California and loving it I have to beable to pass the smog inspections every other year. If I use the Smarty JR. and order the ME and don't do the EGR and DFP deletes and do a Cali Delete if Do I understand right that it will just clog the DFP more. By turning it off with the smarty ? I will delete the EGR, and not remove the DFP. Or do I just order a regular Smarty Jr ? and can I still turn off the EGR and DFP with that model. I want to get the Insight with the EGT probe and thinking of the cold air stage 2 from AFE. Had it on the 04 and loved to hear the turbo spool up. I WANT BETTER MILEAGE. Use to the 15teens towing and 20s not. Love the power and E-Brake, Plus the DRW a awesome truck.

If you need to pass the Calif emission smog inspection then you need to use the Smarty jr J-67 not the Me version. But there is a caveat to the Smart jr J-67, it must be on an approved list of emission equipment from CARB. If not you will fail the inspection. I may be incorrect in that statement but I do not think so. Here is a link to the SEMA web site link for all 50 states emission testing. Gas engine vehicles are listed first and then the diesel engine test requirements are last for each state.

SEMA SAN - SEMA ACTION NETWORK

Also anything else added to the engine such as a CAI needs to be approved by CARB and have a certificate of compliance and or on the list to get one.

Hope this helps?

You can gain about 1 to 2 miles per gallon by just un-plugging the EGR valve on the drive side, in front. You will get a CEL but this will not harm the engine nor cause you any problems. When testing is required, just plug the EGR valve back in and run this way for a week or so. The ECM will clear its self and this will let you pass the emission testing.

Run the Smarty JR67. It disables the egr, but allows dpf function to continue. Remove the Smarty at smog time (give it a few days to clear all the monitors) and you are bone stock. I have the Jr on my bone stock 2010 and I've gained ~2mpg commuting and it drives better.
