Can you remove the EGR stuff from the truck and just run the DPF? Do i need a tuner to do this? I just hate knowing that exhaust is going back into the intake!!

I am curious as well.

It will take a tuner to be code free, but I am wondering if there is a tuner that disables the EGR but leaves the DPF intact. This would be a much easier way to pass visuals and keep the intake/turbo a lot cleaner.

May be possible with something like efi live or similar. I think they can turn the egr off. I can't see why not the dpf can run without egr.

My EGR cooler went out over 100,000 miles ago and was never replaced. I yanked the EGR hardware, made plates to cover the holes and moved on. The original DPF is still working great with about 290,000 miles on the truck. I have a constant CEL due to the deleted EGR system which I think a tuner will clear but I'm not about to spend that kind of money just to clear a CEL. If you dont mind the CEL being on then all you need are some blanking plates. The DPF doesn't care.

Edktrans: I'll make sure my friends know that. They don't like the idea of soot put back into their engines

The early Smarty boxes running non-delete software turned off the EGR system along with adjusting the timing and fuel. I don't know how to prove this, but that was the info I got from a couple good sources when I bought my Jr and Sr programmers
