A couple of DV questions gentlemen. I have a 96' w/ a 215 pump. This means my DV's are 181's correct? Is it worth it to put 191's? Keeping in mind that I have 370 injectors. Also do you really get 40hp gain? Also I am told this is a simple instal job... . I have done all the mods on my truck myself, but I am TOTALLY ingnorant when in comes to the DV's... is there a resource for install infomation etc? Thank you for the help I am not soo savvy on DV's.

Josh

This is a link to a DV installation guide. It's easy and you only need one special tool.

With that set up I don't think you're going to gain much for the $$. They do help the smaller pumps smooth out.

Josh, spend any money yet..... there is power still left in your combo..... plenty. Do a search for AFC mods under my name... ... lots of reading.

With a properly tuned 215 pump, 370's and a stock turbo is should make about 45-50 psi of boost (WAY TO MUCH) and plasma torch EGT's and run like a scaled ape.

I dynoed 181 vs brand new 191s in the 215 hp pump two different years, both times I got zip zero nada nothing. Go ahead and spend your money if you like smoke. I have answered this question numerous times and am seldom believed. Yes, I ran stock 181s all the way to 800 hp single turbo diesel only. Even with that setup I did not gain anything with 191s or cut DVs, and you can believe that I dynoed extensively.

Lots of people get big gains on laser cut DV's over 181's and even 191's, not sure what was up with your truck or the dyno. No doubt 181's are plenty for most people, thats why I went with them over 191's and I save $100 while doing it. But it has been proven many times to counter your once on dyno's that the bigger DV's give big gains.

191's are baby DV's..... do you think pullers run those? So how do 181's work with a real pump... ..... they smash the pump cam flat over time... ... ... no not 500 miles.

Jim

thank you

Hey guys thanks for the info STILL learning sooo much here. Jim im looking through those posts now..... Joe... look for an e-mail from me. Im still stuck on the east coast 4 a little longer.

Joe, thanks for the input. I guess I need to put those 181s in I've got in the tool chest if I decide to crank up the hp on the 95. I had considered selling em for 191s.

It's only a good upgrade for 94-95 trucks because they only came with 131 DV's. 191's on a 96-98 is pointless because they come with 181's.
