I have eagle 058s (16" ) wheels on my truck. The dealer called this a modification. He refused to do brake work! A friend of mine bought a new truck with the same wheels (058s) on it from a dealership. My question is, how many of you have bought new truck with aftermarket wheels already on it? Thanks for the info.

My 2500 came new with 16's, Banks Stinger Plus kit, Warn running boards, fender flairs and more plus a warranty, all dealer installed. The dealers practice was to modify 10 of each years models this way and charge up the ying-yang for them. Luckily mine was the last 95 in a lot full of 96s and had 4k on it, got a great deal on it.

Some dealers look for anything they can to deny warranty work, go to another one using this list http://dodgeram.org/buying_info/survey_dealer/Dealers.htm

Take it to a different dealer. The dealer has to prove that the rims caused the problem. Then if you can't get any help call the rep. If you need the phone #S for the rep let me know. But do not let them screw you. Oo. :--)

You may not be able to go to another dealer and have them not know about the denial. I asked the service manager at the dealership where I bought my truck if he could adjust my computer for my new 255/85 tires. I wanted to correct the speedometer. He told me that if he had me in for service he would have to put into the D/C computer that I have other than stock tires on my truck. Keep in mind that this dealer sells trucks new with aftermarket wheels and tires. He also told me that they have been told to look out for any vehicle that comes in with larger than stock tires and to enter that into the computer. He told me that this would void my entire drivetrain warranty including axles, transmission, transfer case and engine. He told me that it easy to prove that the larger tires caused stresses in excess of those caused by stock tire size. Once you are in that computer you are screwed. It's not as easy as saying "they have to prove it caused the problem". You have to sue them before they have to prove anything! That can get very expensive very fast. This was of course a five star dealer. They must get a star for every so many hundred warranty denials they generate.

aftermarket wheels.

 What if the dealer put bigger tire's and rims on your truck when you purchased it, Are they then held to the factory warranty??

:--) :D :D :D
