My 30' Nomad TT came with marathon tires on it. I realized later (read on) they were load range C.

Well, on a trip up I 85 at about 72 mph the front left tire blew and shreded. I always check the tires before a trip (and during) and air to max pressure on sidewall. BTW, had it not been for my habit of frequent checks in the side mirrors, I did not know it had blown. It never swayed, swerved or nothing. Could not feel it in the truck which kinda scared me.

Anyway, I had been reading the threads here about tire blow out and thought I would make one more trip on the four year old tires with ~6K miles on them that I check and maintain often (I even carry a torque wrench). Bad move.

So I decide to buy five new ones so I wouldn't have to worry for awhile. Thats when I discovered they were Load "C". The only ones I could find were Denman trailer tires and these were load "D" which made me happier. So far so good.

Anyone have these tires and have comments on them?

Thanks

They've been making off-road tires for ever... . no bad things to say from my perspective. I'd say you made a good choice.

I'm curious to hear how they work out for you. I have a '02 FS2600 Weekend Warrior and the last two trips I had blowouts. My tires have less than 2000 miles on them and I'm tired of calling up Carlisle and getting accused of running them overloaded, underinflated, etc. I actally just ended up buying a new tire just like it (rather than calling the manufacturer) from discount so I could get the replacement warranty. They took my blown tire, sold me a new one for $30 plus $10 for the warranty and I was out the door... no more waiting 3 weeks to get a new tire from Carlisle... I can get it replaced in 30 minuutes from the nearest Discount Tire.

By the way, mine are load range D. Part of my problem is probably because I'm within about 85-90% of their rating and it's 115 degrees here in Phoenix. If I ever get to the point where I actually wear out the tires (because I keep having them replaced), I'll be buying 16" rims so I can move up to a load range E... either that or I'll get 16" rims after I rip a hole through the floor of my trailer.

:--)

good to hear

Thanks MJ, glad to know they have a good reputation.

Mingoglia, I would like to get 16" myself but I think I will have to change my 5 lug hubs. Not sure though.
