I did a search and cannot find a web site for Layne and his Denver Off Road bumpers.

I know back awhile ago, he had problems with his web guy, then disappeared from the www. Did he ever get with another web designer and is he on the WWW? Just wondering.

Haven't seen much from him but I imagine Layne is still out there. Any updates?

Layne's number is 970-464-5566. He moved his shop from fruita back to his place.

He just finished up a 2Gen for me that I will be picking up next weekend. He was willing to swap the 2Gen for the 3Gen that I bought and put on my 04 for a couple of months.

He is a great guy to visit with and is meticulous about putting together a top quality bumper. They run a little more than a steel bumper. But imho, I'd much rather have a 1/2" aluminum bumper hanging on the front end of a CTD than any of the steel ones.

The finish is a brushed aluminum clearcoat.

I have since had the bumper powdercoated Silver.

I bought it from Layne about 4 years ago (when he was still in Aurora CO. )

Great guy and good quality.

I have had one of Laynes bumpers on my truck for about 160k now. It still looks great. No rust obvoiusly and the powdercoat job still looks great. I went back and had him fab me up a lower valance for it like he has for the 3rd gens.

So has Layne moved back to Denver or just from Fruita to someplace else over by Grand Junction? I used to stop by occassionally in Fruita on my way to Utah until he moved again. Dont know where he went too.

He was making a rear aluminum bumper as well. I saw several at his shop when he was fabbing them up. I still would love to have one but the funds just arent there at the moment. There was a member named Josparkz that has one of his rears. He had some pictures of it in a thread a while back (quite a while back). The following is not the same thread but does have some info on the rear.

Layne is still in the Fruita-Grand Junction area. He moved from the shop in Fruita when it was purchase by someone who walk in and liked the location, location, location.

He is now working out of the shop at his place. Guess I'd better figure out just exactly where since I'm heading there this weekend to swap the 3G bumper for a 2G bumper. :-laf

Ol Dog

Can you ask Lane what he wants for a 2nd generation rear bumper and what he has for options and/or pictures. Thanks

kscheffler, I would be happy to ask him.

But I'd be robbing you of a great experience :-laf

Layne is a real personable guy and it's always been a joy to talk with him on the phone. And I know that I'm not the only one who has had that experience with Layne. Plus, you would know far better than I do just what options you would like. Since he does custom bumpers he pretty much can fab up to suit your needs. His number is up above. If you still want me to ask let me know sort of what you are looking for.

I have the powder coated DOR on my truck, see my Reader's Rigs section. I have had it for at least 3 years now. Maybe coming up on 4...

I agree with TrailDog -Layne is a great guy to talk to on the phone. Never had the chance to meet him in person, but what a terrific guy to deal with.

I looooove my DOR bumper :D

I am in the process of ordering front and rear bumpers from him right now. Since I am located only 4 hours from him I will be picking up my bumpers in person instead of having them shipped.

I have an aluminum bumper--a UTE. And I love it's being lighter than steel but still husky enough to eat a deer and save the truck. I polish mine with Mother's mag wheel polish--works great. Alum. bumpers are great!
