I am waiting for the DOR bumper to arrive. I have factory fog lights that I would like to incorporate into the bumper. Layne is reluctant to make the holes (compromised strength). I go off road so they should not hang below the bumper. Has anyone found a solution. I wont them in the bumper. .

I don't know what to tell you about mounting them into the bumper, but what I did was went out and bought some hella driving lights, which turned out to be much better than the factory bumper mounted lights, and used the same wires, and extended them up to the light mounts on the top of the bumper. Seems to work pretty good, and you only have to do minimal wiring, and also use the same on-off switch in the cab. Just my . 02 worth, good luck.

I would ditch the Factory Fogs and wire the switch into a nice set a PIAA's.

They work much better and will give the bumper a better look.

Listen to Layne, he doesn't want to compromise the integrity of your bumper for inexpensive set of DC fogs, and you shouldn't either ;)

Layne wasn't too thrilled with me wanting to drill my new bumper out for the stock lights. He convinced me that since I had never yet seen one of his bumpers in the flesh , I should hold off until installation day. When that day finally came I had to face a couple of facts. One was that I was about to install a masterpiece of bumper work on my truck that didn't really need a couple of holes in it. The second fact was that the oem lights aren't really that great. So we did a little surgery to the brackets , and mounted them underneath.

And I'm glad he talked me out of doing the holes, cause the really neat Hella's I just ordered would not have fit them. :D

I couldn't bare to drill the big holes in my DOR either but at the same time I didn't want to just toss the original stock fogs even if they are crap. After paying for the bumper it was going to be a bit before I could afford good dl's. So I mounted the stock fogs underneath all it took was 2 six inch or so peices of 11/2 angle aluminum. Mounted the stock fog brackets to that and mounted that to the inside bottom of the bumper(2 1/4 inch holes per mount). Literally took 20 minutes. They haven't been torn off yet and I have since got some good Driving lights I mounted on the DOR tabs and left the stockers down low and they still work as well as they ever did.
