Hey guys, we are planning a week vacation in destin, fl. Are in that area. Does any one know of a nice rv. Park in that area. The wife is looking at walking distance to the beach so we do not have to drive truck. Thanks
One about 20 mi east of Destin, Topsail Hill State Preserve. We'll be there the week before Easter, it gets great reviews. There are other state parks along the beach, too.
I am in valparaiso FL. just 15 miles from destin. Here is a couple of great state parks. Henderson beach state park, grayton beach state park both are on the guif. I have camped at both either one of them are beatiful.
There's one called "Camping on the Gulf. " It's in Destin and is actually ON the beach. I've not been there but know a couple that have and they say it's great! I believe they have a website.
RCrosby, I believe if you check, you'll find that Emerald Beach RV Park is not actually on the beach, but on the Sound. It has only a small man-made beach area, not really like being on the Gulf.
thanks for the info. on the parks in the area, yes emerald beach looks to be very nice. but you got to drive to get to the gulf view. we are looking at the parks on the gulf side. thanks
My wife and I have been going to the Destin area for a long time. Our favorite camp ground is the "TOP SAIL HILL" state park. We will not stay any where else. In our opinion the higher numbered sites are best.
I second Topsail Hill State Park. If you can get a reservation that is the place to be. The campground is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile from the beach. There is a nice paved road you can bike or walk down to get to the beach. There is also a tram that runs every hour from the campground to the beach. All pads are concert with full hook ups. The nightly rate is very reasonable.
RCrosby, If you have google earth loaded on your computer, you can copy and paste the address and fly over most any RV park and get a good idea what you're looking at before you shell out the money for reservations. This works great for me during the planning stages of our vacations. You can even find restaurants and places of interest under the "layers" tab that are close by.
