I am thinking about getting a locker for my rear. Anyone have one on their daily driver? What are your opinions on the driveability?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I have a Detroit Locker in the rear and an ARB air locker in the front. I have another car to drive but I drive my pickup to work about half the time. If you pickup is empty, the locker will chirp the tires almost everytime you take off while turning. Put some weight in the back and it's not a problem. I towed my travel trailer with it, and it worked really well with that amount of weight.

At the drag strip it works very well. I prefer it to the ARB. However I would not want a Detroit Locker in the front. With the ARB you have to make sure it has engaged (locked), before you hammer down on it. With the Detroit Locker, just power down anytime you like.

Neither is perfect, and both work...

I have one in my rig, daily driver

Yep you do have a chirp when turning but I dont mind it a bit. install was a PITA on my 2500 since the bearings are pressed on but after that battle everything went smooth backlash and mesh were perfect. Ive got the new "spool" style locker if that means anything..... heck I dont know! I went from one wheel peel to LOCKED and love it! I dont have to worry about traction!

One thing to caution... . the rear end will want to come around if your on wet pavement and get the rubber to spin!
