Hi Guys, looking for some insight here. I just recently installed a Detroit Truetrac carrier in the rear axle of my truck since the stock one failed and upon reading on there web site they make the comment the they do not recomend synthetic oil. Now I don't know if they mean that it is not nessasary, but won't hurt to use it, or if it shouldn't be used. I have sent a question off to them via email from their web site and am waiting for there responce. Just wondering what some of your experiences are on this issue. I see that the carrier gears are an obvious weak link in our drive trains as it is one of the three things that Dodge has upgraded on the Max Tow version of the truck coming out. It was obviously an issue for those of us who push the tow limits of these trucks as I have fallen victum to it myself. I just changed the oil to help with the flushing of the diff since it was done a few weeks ago and am running Amsoil 75w90 now. I have previously been running 75w140 since the truck was new and am now at 142K.
