I recently completed some major engine work where I had the cylinder head off of the truck.
For about the last 30k+ miles I have ran the Dexcool antifreeze.
A while back members here were wondering if the ingredients in this coolant would hurt silicone that is contained on the stock headgasket and how it would react with the existing or deposited silicone from the oem coolant.
What I have found is that Dexcool (mixed brands).
Has performed just as advertised in my engine.
I noticed that the silicon/white deposits from the OEM coolant was being eaten/cleaned away by the Dexcool.
The internal water/coolant jacket of the engine block was as clean as the day it was cast!! No rust, No nasty silicone build up.
Also the stock headgasket had no evidence of deterioration from the Dexcool coolant.
So for those that were wondering a while back how this coolant performs, an inside view of my block revealed great results.
