Howdy folks, A friend of mine reported that while filling up, an older gentleman with a '03 or newer Ram/Cummins pulled into the filling bay next to him. Prior to filling up the guy pulled out a bottle of Dexron ATF and dumped into his tank then proceeded to fill up. My buddy questioned him about it and he said that he had done this for years as he'd owned many diesel trucks of different brands over the years and felt it kept the injectors cleaned and lubricated and that he had never experienced any problems doing so. I haven't been brave enough to try it myself. I would think that it would screw up the cat converter on the newer trucks, but might provide lubrication for the VP44 on the 98. 5's - '02's, Then again diluting one quart of ATF with 35 gallons of diesel, I wonder if there's enough in the tank to make any difference at all. Any arguments for or against are apprieciated.
