Dexter Axle's Heavy Duty Suspension Kit Install

I was looking over my 5th wheel and I noticed I could see the bolt hole in one of the hangers. So after some looking on the Internet I found this kit from Dexter Axle(K71-449-00 Heavy Duty Suspension Kit for 1 3/4 leaf springs) . It replaces the bolts with ones that you can grease, the equalizer which you also grease, the hangers are twice as thick, and the plastic bushings with bronze ones. Installation was straight foreword so I won't bother you guys with that but here are some pictures.

Oh ya I almost forgot. While I was breaking everything loose I thought I should put some gloves on. I said to myself I'll be fine. Two seconds later... ... So here is something for your guys Safety Meeting tomorrow. Had to drill the poor thing... . LOL live and learn or maybe just live.

WOW!! That hurts just looking at the photo of your finger... been there done that too many times. At my old age, I've finally learned:-laf... wear gloves! Mechanic's gloves are in my tool box where I can easily grab them before I start a job.



Yep, I've done the Dexter suspension upgrade to two different 5th wheels.

Wow, those shackles are heavy duty, good pics, thanks. Yup, I wear gloves all the time too, it don't cure all but it sure helps!

I've also added there shock kit seeing that my 5th wheel didn't come with any.

To late now, but you should have got the Dexter EZ flex kit which gives a much better ride.

PS I KNOW WHAT YOUR ABOUT TO SAY ha ha Ya and its been that cold lately also. I would have turned the grease nipples to the inside it easy to climb under than have to take off a wheel to grease the bolts. Hope it works out for ya As far as your finger BIG DEAL YOU HAVE 9 OTHERS TO PICK YOUR NOSE WITH :-laf Gloves??? do they stop you from smashing your finger or just hide the fact that your finger is now FLAT

Nope, gloves don't prevent me smashing my finger, but it does soften the blow a bit and it takes longer for the blood to appear... it has to soak through the glove while I groan in pain and swear at my finger for being in the way!
