Central Texas Meet, Waco/Temple

Big D Dodge Diesel Club Meeting, 2-14-2004

At the December meeting we plan on discussing some changes for 2004. We currently meet on the same Saturday of each month at the same time at the same resturant. We are quickly outgrowing this location (both in seating and parking). On of the things we may try to do is move the location around each month to draw more people who don't want to drive to Addison each month (like driving your CTD is a problem!). Another thought is to change up the meeting time (Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday lunch time).

What I'm asking for from the membership is some ideas to make the DFW chapter more appealing to you. Maybe you have been thinking of attending, but the meeting time doesn't fit into your schedule. Maybe your not sure about bringing your family. Are you looking for more DFW chapter events? What can we do to get more attendees?

I realize this thread is old, but how about revive it?

I didn't even know there was a D/FW chapter.

Where do you guys meet, if at all since I haven't seen much here lately.

I know some local "other car" clubs have made the mistake of calling themselves D/FW, but then hold all the meetings in Garland, Mesquite or Plano, therefore all but preventing the Fort Worth crew from attending.

I understand Robbie however there are a number of members that travel quite a ways to attend. Some from southern OK if the Border Patrol doesn't catch them. Our meeting location has come up a time or two for a change. A more centralized location would be a wise move to grow our club even though it would mean longer drive for me. Another alternative would be to rotate meeting locations but this could create some confusion as to when and where the meetings would be. Even though its currently a haul for you why don't you come for the next meeting in Addison at Bic's Coffee Shop, SW corner of Keller Springs and Midway Rd. PM me if you would more detailed directions, GPS coords, etc.

Just be thankful y'all have a chapter up there. this town down here is so dead, I do not think anything will ever happen. . Looks like we have to either drive to Austin, Houston or Dallas to get anything happening. Oh well, I would be more than glad to attend a few times a year. . is there a website to go to???

-Chris-

Hey Chris, there is a website, but it's hard to find. It's the homepage for one of our members. Go to yahoo and look up "Big D Dodge Diesel Club" and you'll find it. It hasn't been updated in a while. We are trying to plan more club events in the future. This chapter is not like others. We don't have organizational paperwork. We don't charge dues. We just meet once a month, eat, and B. S. Hopefully we will put together a couple of Saturday BBQ's, maybe a wrench day or two. If we have anything, it will be posted here.

Guys, I would love to make the meetings. However, mornings are bad for me. I work daylight hours every day(if its daylight I'm working). If an evening time could be worked out I would probably be able to make it.

I'd love to meet some of the local folks, but mornings don't work well for me. A lunch or an afternoon or even the occasional evening meet would be good. I like the idea of moving it around to get different people involved, but that could cause a loss of continuity for the current regulars. If you try something new, I'll try to be there.

I'd really like to meet up with other local CTD owners... there's a little (100+ cars) meet every Wed evening at Sonic in Lewisville that we could all meet up at... great place to bench race, bull****, and check out some cool cars. I go up there nearly every wednesday to hang out w/ my buddies.

maybe we could pick a Wed evening sometime soon?

I'd also like to set up a N. Texas dyno day soon.

I realize there was recently a huge BOMB party in Texas, but I missed it! so I'd love to attend one soon... I don't really have anything that needs BOMBing right now, but I'd love to help turn wrenches... I don't have much hands-on experience w/ these trucks, but I've been around cars/building hot rods nearly all my life.

let's get something going! Oo.

Forrest, what street is that Sonic on? The only one I know of is the one in the old down-town area. I might bring my street rod or my Camaro out once the weather warms up. If you're there one night look for a yellow 32 Ford coupe that looks like the car from American Graffiti or a silver 69 Z/28 with black stripes and Amercian Racing Torque Thrusts.

it's on Round Grove over by the mall... look for a white '97 2500 w/ stacks (or a straight 5" system if I get around to installing the new exhaust before Wed!)

went out to Sonic last Wed... it was COLD! there was a white QC 24v 4x4 up there, but I didn't get to talk w/ him. I didn't stay very long.

I'll be going up there again this Wed night... the Saturday morning deal was just a little early for my young blood.

Well, Its kind of hard to me to make it to the sonic there, when I live in San Antonio. . guess I will not be able to be a part of that club, unless y'all make some weekend times, and even then it will be hard to make. .

Hey Chris, I'll try and make it down to one of your "Censored" meetings. I see ya'll had a good turnout this past weekend. If for nothing else I want to meet a devilish blond:)

I too would like to hookup with some of the local members in DFW and maybe do wrench day/dyno day or just some of the members that live around McKinney.

I would love to be part of an active DFW chapter. Weekends are about the only time that will work for me, at least for now.

Zap, are you in the McKinney area also?

Len

The next meeting is next Saturday, the 14, at the usual spot. Hope you guys can make it out. PM me if you need directions.

BTW. I have a new garage in the works so hopefully this spring we can have some bomb sessions over at my house.
