Competition Stacks - DHRA - TurnOuts Allowed?

I have a few questions about DHRA events.

How long do they last. All day, a few hours ?

How many dial in runs do you get ?

How long between runs ?

I have never drag raced (on a track anyway) and just wanting to do some planning on how to handle the family an all.

Thanks

Dennis

Hello Dennis,

The answers to all of your questions basically depend on the amount of racers at that particular event.

What we do is, share a venue with a track. What I mean is, lets say your local track has a regular Saturday night race. Well, if we were to race at that track, we would go in to that already scheduled Saturday night venue and our group would race(with the others, but not against them). Some tracks draw only a handful of regular racers(Gassers and such) to each of their regularly scheduled races, while others draw a very large number of participants for their regularly scheduled races.

So at some tracks/locations, a DHRA event might be only a few hours, while others may be all day long.

Does this help?

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me anytime.

Thanks

The number of dial-in runs each competitor can make is based on the amount of time the organizers allot for it and how many competitors there are.

I have seen people make 10 passes and some only make one or two passes before actual racing starts.

Eric,

I noticed the pullers are having a seminar session for newbies. Anything like that going on for the 1/4 milers?

Unfortunately the track is open Wednesday for Test and Tune, Saturday (we'll be at the Lion's Club all day) and then Sunday we will be pushing to get everyone three dial in runs. If you are going to be here Wednesday, we can test and tune. A local test and tune may be a great option, maybe have one of the local members give you some instruction. I wish we had time during Thunder in Muncie but we don't.
