Here it comes-Indiana Diesel Nationals!

INDY nationals ORP pictures...is your truck in here?

I thought I would pass this along to all of you pulling a trailer and coming from the EAST. Interstate 70 in downtown Indianapolis is under construction. It is a 6 mile stretch from I-465 to the "south split" They DO NOT ALLOW any trailers. It is a $500. 00 fine when you get pulled over. Not if, but when. They have handed out over 2,500 tickets so far just for semi's and pick up trucks with trailers. All you have to do is take the I-465 South exit loop around and that will get to the road of your choice to get to IRP (ORP). If anyone has any questions about this I will be happy to answer them in a PM, Email ( -- email address removed -- ) or here. Let me know. -Jason

I dont want to be a pain but would it be possible for you to post the exit we should be getting off to avoid this area and to get to ORP without a big $$$ fine. We will be coming from the East along Int. 70

Thanks, Rob

JUST TO ADD-

Try to get into town an hour before rush hour, and maybe 2 hours after it starts. Traffic is a *****. Both the top and bottom loops, the traffic is HEAVY. Has taken me over an hour to get through on the bottom side before, with the big truck.

The cops are sure busy handing out tickets... ... ... ... ... ... .....

I can't give the exit number right now. I will try to get it this weekend. But it would be the 465 SOUTH exit coming into the city. -Jason

I just saw on another thread that you can buy the 2 day pass on Friday from Noon till 5 P. M. at Gate 3 (southside near dragstrip tower). Spectators will be able to purchase two-day passes for $30. Here is a link to that tread. -Jason

Well thats better. At least the out of towners that come in on Friday can get the 2 day pass. I'm only an hour away so I drive both days and arrive right at gate opening. I can't be there on Friday though to save $10. Hmm online ticket orders eh?

coming from 70 east, you'll pass Greenfield exit, Mount Comfort Road Exit, then you'll come up on Post Road Exit. But you will see the speeds drop from 65 to 45. get in the right lane when you are seeing this. 70, 465 N & S and Post all combine right at the same point. if you are heading south 465 expect traffic during rush hour it gets pretty heavy at 65 south split, and Harding street exit.

The hotel we are staying at is like 2 miles from The Brickyard so which 465 would be better to take north or south. It seems like going south and looping around downtown Indy would be best. Is it me or does 465 make a big square around Indy. ?

yeah 465 is just a big loop around Indy. South seems to have less traffic. Once you head North on 465, I-69 gets to be pretty crazy. Exit 90 is the 465 split coming from the east side of Indy on 70.

I just cut loose two non-smoking rooms that each are supposed to have 2 king beds each at the Motel 6 (317-838-9300).

Matt, it will be interesting to see who makes it back down there this year.

Party on!

Wife and i will be leaving out about noon friday. Should roll into Days Inn about 5. 00. Ya'll be sure to have a cold one waiting on us Ky. folk. RandyOo. Oo.

Well for those of you that could not make it, wow, what a night, still party'n and some great smoke shows. A brass pole in the back of one truck and some mighty fine daring women to bare all... ... ... ... :-laf Along with the support of the local law all is good as far as burn-outs go, as there has been some great ones as well as lots of licquid courage going down. Unlike last year and more like the first year here things are fairly under control, if you can measure "control". I am sure the pics and viedo will be flying soon.

Weather? Not a drop of rain today, just hot, but at this point who cares?

Well I just got home from the track. It was FUN FUN FUN. More Dodges than the other trucks put together. Can't wait to go back in the morning. -Jason
