I just purchased a pillar and three Di-Pricol gauges for my 2004. 5 600. The kit did not come with any instructions and I am a little scared to start the install without some more Knowledge. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

1. does the egt probe go in the exhaust manifold or the turbo?

2. is the 30 lbs boost going to be enough or do I need 60?

3. Is there a test port on the transmission for the sending unit or do I have to drill a hole in the pan?

4. Will a mag-hytech pan fit the new trans?

Thanks, Pictures would help even more.

If you go to "Search Forums" and type in "gauge install" I think there is more than enough info there to get you started, some with very good pictures. Good luck... I haven't had nerve enough yet to put gauges in, but I'm leaning towards the setup Sarge did. They look really nice. Good luck!

1. 30lbs is enough if you remain stock. If you add a bigger turbo or even add a box with boost elbow, it will not. Mine with an EZ and the boost elbow can see 38 lbs.

2. Where the EGT probe goes is one of the great controversies here. Preturbo gives the most accurate readings. Post turbo in the elbow, not the actual turbo, is an easier install.

Can't help you on the transmission as I have manuals.

The guage install was no biggie. If you don't have it, get a boost bolt from Piers for the boost guage. You won't have to drill the intake. The toughest part is drilling the exhaust manifold for the EGT probe.

Here is some instructions for a 03. Yours should be similar.

See the post by "sarge" titled "New Gauges Tell An Amazing Story" he states that his stock 600 has boost in excess of 30, so the 60 is a prudent choice.

I also copied his setup which I saw at a truck meet in July. I took his advice and got the 60#.

Do those of you with DiPricols feel that the EGT gauge is a good match to the factory gauges at night? I just installed DiPricol boost, fuel pressure, and EGT gauges and, while the boost and fuel gauges look pretty close, the EGT gauge doesn't match well at night. It has a green glow vs the black background of the other two and the needle isn't lit. I have both the LED and bulb hooked up.

JHafen,

A 30# will not make you happy. Stock, the truck will get 34.

If you have not installed it yet, upgrade now.

EGT is not a good match; there has been much written about this. Some have spoke on different wiring schemes to make it more matching.

EGT matches pretty good in daylight, less well at night, but I have been generally happy with it. Theonly time it is hard to read is when it's still light outside (no completely dark) and the lights are switched on. There's day and night pictures in my gallery.

You'll need a 60 psi boost gage for your truck. As previously mentioned, the 600's do more than 30 psi stock.

Took me about 3 hours to do my boost gage and pyro and it was my first time doing it. Lot's of good information on this board and the Accessories board.

Good luck.

I bought the aluminum transmission pan from dieselperformanceparts.com. It holds 2 extra quarts of fluid, has a drain plug, and has a boss you can drill and tap for a sending unit. It was a pretty easy drill and tap operation. While I was at it, I replaced the trans filter with one from Fleetguard. My boost gauge goes to 35 lbs, which is enough for the 600 with no boxes added.
