I have seen some of you say that you have no boxes installed, but have gauges anyway. I have a2004 ho and have box installed. I tow a 2000# trailer around town all day every day. Should i be worried about egt and trans temp(6 speed)?

No worries with a stock truck. They design them user friendly. Gauges are for those who like to know their engines vitals or plan to do future mods. If a box is in your future haveing gauges for a while before adding it is good to get a baseline of what your truck "used to be".

Higher than the second gen trucks were stock but still within tolerance.

I should also add that you have no need to worry about trans temp on the 6 speed with a 2000# trailer.

Updated them how? They have made some changes yes. The original ones they made to match the 03 rams had white faces and a somewhat blue numbering. These are the ones I have. The night lighting is not impressive with these gauges.

The new style uses (at least in the pyro's) an LED to aid lighting and is a much closer match in appearance to the factory gauge cluster. Some say they can't even they aren't factory gauges.

I bought these back in May 03. There shouldn't be any left in stock by now. When I wanted a fuel pressure gauge that would match back in December I got the last one that Di Pricol had.

I have a mostly stock 01 HO and on my post turbo pyro I sometimes see 1100 degrees when hauling not a big load up a grade. If you are never gonna do any towing and drive on flat roads without a headwind with nothing more than your dog in the back, then you are ok. But a post turbo pyro will make you sleep better that you didn't turn off your engine with the turbo being 600 degrees!!!

I have 1 gauge and that is all I think that I need. But I think every Turbo diesel needs a pyro, ESPECIALLY the HO's they run way HOT stock.

I got a three guage set in Nov. They look great day and night. One thing I would do different, but its not enough of a difference to warrant me pulling them out, is some of them have a regular bulb light that plugs into the back of the gauge. I would cover that with the green bulb wrap, you can get at Walmart. I wired mine into the dash light circuit at the switch, so they dim right along with my factory dash lights. Most folks think they came factory. Mine have green lighting, so they match my 04 dash fine.

Am i to understand that u dont have a box installed? Also, where did you get your gauges, and how much were they?

Thanks in advance, Colby

Ordered my pyro from DPP friday. The new gauges look EXACTLY like stock day or night except for the center button on the pyro. It is pritty big. There are pictures on DPP's site.

I was able to overheat a standard '01. I was travelling west on I90 climbing into the Bitterroots. The EGT got to 1300 while my boost gauge showed 10. I had a leak in my air hose at the intercooler. I carry tools so I stopped and tightened the clamps. I wouldn't have know what was wrong without the gauges.

The gauges help decide what gear to use when I am working the truck.
