Just curious which one you all would choose. I use my truck mainly for towing, I know the smarty is an awesome programmer, but i have heard really good stuff about diablo. Im talking about the power puck and programmer stacked together. Im looking to get rid of my tst, and im not to sure which one to choose yet. Thanks for your info.

I installed a Smarty over the weekend and so far no regrets. I am towing to Montana the end of the month so will see what it does on the long haul.

i think marco can custom program darn near anything.

One of my friends wants to drop idle to 700 rpm. I recommended Diablo.

He called, and they said they "don't have access to that".

They also openly admit, like all other downloaders, not being able to raise the redline, so maybe it's part of the same misterious lines of code.

Can Marco do that? Or are all the programmers in the same boat, in that they barely have reverse engineered the timing and fuel pressure, or worse yet, they just fool the signals from a couple of sensors, but have no real knowledge of the actual logic that makes them work?

Perhaps the real reason for not eleminating the third injection event is the heavy encription, and the near-impossibility to reverse engineer DC's encryption. Yes, DC does it's own programming, and Cummins has no access to it, and the ECM is also different hardware from the Cummins ECM.

I read in another thread that the real reason is that there are some "moles" at Ford,GM,etc, who have sold the codes to the aftermarket guys, but not at DC.

Why would someone want to drop the idle to 700rpm? On my 12v that caused problems when the AC kicked on. AC also works when defrost is on in the winter. Would've been more of a problem with an auto. Dodge also recommends no extended idle because of cylinder wash.

These engines have automatic idle speed, meaning that not only does it not drop when the AC comes on, but when you let go of the clutch it maintains speed (adds fuel) and increases torque up to about 360 ft-lb at idle.

Cummins engines (common rail) have idle speed user adjustable from 650 to 850 .

Towing w/Smarty

I towed just over 10k with my Smarty on 6 this week. It tows beautiful and good power. I have the the Diablo also, but it is the original program version and I have done NO upgrades so maybe someone who has done some upgrades could comment. The two I have right now,... it's the Smarty by a ton.

Thank you all for the replies. Bodie sorry man i havent gotten back to you yet, i have been really busy. The pump is working great so far, but i forgot to send in my papers for the warranty. I still have to take some picks of my truck and email them to you, i will as soon as i have time. Working 7 days a week takes up a lot of time.
