I am diagnosing a starting problem on a 2001 24V HO engine truck. I would like to eliminate the tank and lines from the equation and run the truck on an alternate source of fuel; a small, stand alone tank.

Has anyone here done that and what convenient approach did you take with regard to connections?

Have you searched the threads? Several guys have found that parking in an uphill or downhill orientation will cause the hard start and parking level or the opposite will not. They found some piece where air can enter when parked a certain way. Could be much easier than what you are proposing.

Godspeed,
Trent

Well not sure why a 5 gal bucket or fuel can and some fuel wouldnt work for a tank. Just follow the fuel supply line back from the pump (assumming you have a stock pump)a couple feet and it will convert to a steel hardline on the frame rail. Undo that connection add some hose to the end of the soft line if needed run into the bucket. Dont think the return line will matter. However you might be able to do the same with it just not sure if it has a rubber hose or is hardline all the way.
